Chapter 1 Fell in love
Ting… Ting… Ting Ting.
The first period finally ended.
The teacher gave us homework and walked out.
"Let's go washroom," Maya Said.
My only best friend in school and outside, she’s completely different from me. I’m kinda introvert, so I don’t have many friends. She, on the other hand, is friendly with almost everyone.
We met Thomas halfway to the washroom.
"Hey potato," he chuckled, putting his hand on my head. I blushed like an idiot but tried to hide it. I removed his hand and replied,
"I am not potato, don’t call me that."
"Oh really?" he said in his usual teasing tone.
"Let's go, Maya," I said, pulling her hand and walking away.
Thomas has been my crush since class 11, and now I’m in class 12. It’s been one and a half years since I’ve had a crush on him. He lives in my neighborhood with his family.
He is handsome, cute face, broad shoulders....his short, straight hair—just the right length like a Korean guy. He is tall, and he always wears a shirt with the top two buttons open, like the bad boys in movies. But he’s not bad at all. It’s just.....he loved to tease me every time he saw me—all the time, everywhere. I don’t know if he knows that I like him or not, but I loved being teased by him.
"Hey, what are you daydreaming?" Maya smacked my head.
"About marrying Thomas!" I replied shyly.
"You can't even look directly into his eyes and speak to him, but you always dream big," she teased.
"You know, I just don’t know how to speak with him," I pretended to be sad.
"Just speak normally. You know he gets 5–6 love letters daily. If you don’t do anything, he might stay only in your dreams. And it’s our last school year, so you need to take action, my babe," Maya said.
"So.....you mean I need to confess?"
"Yes, exactly," she said.
"But I am afraid… you know, I’ve been sending love letters to him for a year, but he never replies. He always just teases me, and it feels more like bullying than love," I said, making a sad face.
"Lizu… how would he know the letter is from you? Did you tell him it’s from you? not na,I feel like teasing you is his way to show how he feels about you. I’ve never seen him show this much interest in any other girl.So-.... go, babe. I’m sure he will accept you. You are so adorable—who would dare to reject you? You just don’t know your charm," she flattered me.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yes, and I know you just look innocent, but you are not," she murmured.
"Don't expose me," I said, hitting her hand playfully.
"Let's go to class. I’ll tell you how to confess to him," Maya said.
"I already have an idea, but I won’t be able to talk to him alone," I said, making a sad face.
"I will help you, don’t make that face."
"Okay," I said, feeling happy.
I was just thinking about Thomas when school finished. Outside, it was raining. I hadn’t brought my umbrella.
"Oh, it always rains when I don’t bring an umbrella," I murmured.
"I didn’t bring mine today either," Maya said.
"What....you didn’t either? Ahh....then how will we go home?" I looked at her.
"I’ll go with Sam. What about you?" she teased me.
"Are you really going to leave me?" I pretended to sulk.
"No, I’ll find someone to take you home."
"No, I don’t want to g....with--
"Thomas—Thomas...."
"Why--are you calling him?" I asked.
"Shut up."
Thomas was coming our way.
"What is it, Maya?" he replied to her while looking at me. I looked down immediately.
"Do you have an umbrella?" Maya asked. My heart started racing. If he said yes, then I’d have to go with him. Oh… God, how will my heart handle being that close?
"Yes. Why do you ask?" Thomas replied.
"Liza forgot her umbrella at home. Can you take her with you? You’re her neighbor. I’ll go with Sam," Maya said. I also looked up to see his answer.
"Oh… my potato forgot her umbrella," he teased. I hit his hand and bowed my head.
"Okay, I’ll take her with me. Does she know how to walk?" he smacked my forehead lightly.
"I know," I replied, giving him attitude, but my heart was in chaos. The thought of going home with him made my heart flutter uncontrollably.
"Okay then, I’ll see today how you walk!" he said, following the door.
Maya stopped me. "Okay, go with him. All the best," she whispered. I hit her playfully and followed Thomas.
On the way, I felt like I had forgotten how to walk. My heart was racing like I was running a 500-meter race. My legs were shaking, and I was too nervous. I was trying to stand properly by his side, but my brain went completely weired just looking at him—thinking, how would he react if I pulled him by his collar and kissed him? Oh God....., how would that feel if he removed the umbrella and kissed me out of nowhere..... I was fighting with my inner demon that wanted to be glued to him.
"Your arm is all wet," he said, pulling me close and putting his arm around my shoulder.
I froze. He looked nervous, sweating slightly—but why? His heartbeat matched mine, and his ears were all red. I didn’t say a word, my mind completely blank.
Suddenly, a strong gust of wind hit.
"Ouch!" I yelped as it pushed me, and my foot hit a stone.
Without a second thought, he left the umbrella and pulled me into his arms. It felt… amazing. Like we were hugging, really hugging. My eyes fluttered open. The umbrella had broken in the wind.
I lifted my head from his chest and looked at him. He was drenched, water dripping from the tips of his hair straight onto my hand. His whole body was visible through the rain, and… he looked irresistible.
It was becoming impossible to control my inner demons. As Maya said, I might look innocent on the outside, but not in reality.
He grabbed my hand, and we ran through the rain toward the bus stop. Each step made my soaked clothes cling to me. My heart was racing; my legs felt like jelly.
I looked at him. He was staring straight down… and I knew exactly where his eyes were going. He was looking at my b**bs. I didn’t say anything, but I couldn’t deny I liked it.
I took a step closer. He looked up, nervous, like he’d been caught doing something embarrassing. He glanced around, but I kept my eyes on his face.
He looked so… damn hot, sexy, and cute. How could someone have so many qualities?I felt like I wanted to eat his cute face.
He took his handkerchief and started to dab my wet hair. I looked down. My heart seemed to leave me alone to face this. I stepped back. He noticed. He looked at me and took a step closer. Goosebumps ran all over my body.
He gently pulled my chin up, making me meet his eyes. A shiver ran from my head to my toes. I had no idea how to react. I just wanted to vanish.
"What are you thinking,my potato?" he smirked.
"My name is Liza. Don’t call me potato," I tried to pretend to be angry, looking him directly in the eyes. I could see he was enjoying teasing me.
"Ohh…" he smiled.
"Before this, I never knew your name. But… potato suits you more. You look like a potato." He smirked again.
"I don’t look like a potato. I’m prettier than a potato—don’t bully me," I said.
"When did I ever say potato isn’t pretty? My potato is cute and pretty.... who is you, Do you know? Potato feets with everything and grabs all attention without trying," he said, while gently rubbing my cheeks.
"So what?" I said. "I never get the attention of the person I want." All of a sudden, my body went weak, and my eyes started to water.
"Whose attention do you need?" he asked.
I removed his hand from my chin and looked down.
"Hmm…" he caught my hand and held it softly. I didn’t resist.
"Yours," I whispered, looking up with teary eyes. I didn’t even know why I was feeling so sad.
He gently wiped my tears, his eyes soft, and I felt my heart race even faster.
He said, “How much do you need… hmm?”and took one more step closer.
"You’re the one who always acts like you don’t like me. But—you write love letters and send them. What do you think? That I would never know?”
He held my other hand too. I was completely trapped by him.
“You already know?” I asked. Suddenly, happiness rushed through me, and shyness covered me all over again.
“Do I look dumb to you?” he asked.
“I was waiting for you to tell me that you like me, but you never even looked me in the eyes. I started feeling like you were playing with me, so I never told you… uhh—”
I quickly covered his mouth and looked straight into his eyes.
“No,” I said in a hurry.
He removed my hand gently. “What do you mean, no?”
“I do like you. It’s not what you think. I’ve loved you since the first day I saw you, and I want to love you till my last breath.”
Was I confessing?
I don’t know where this courage came from, but suddenly I felt light… relieved.
“Then would you like to date me, my potato?” he smiled.
“You have so many followers… so many girls like you. Why would you date a girl like me?” I said softly. “I—umm—”
He stopped me by kissing me.
His lips landed on mine—soft, sure, warm. Then he pulled back just enough to whisper,.....
“I don’t even bother to look at other flowers when I’ve already found mine. You don’t need to be insecure. You are mine—chosen by me.”
He lifted my chin and kissed me again. Goosebumps spread all over my body.
I didn’t know how to breathe. I didn’t know how to process this.
All I knew was… this was real.
It felt like I had already lost my mind. My hands were freely roaming around his neck and chest. I was touching his abs and chest like I had won them in a lottery—and now they were all mine. His hands were also doing a world tour on my body. One hand was gripping my hair, pulling me into his mouth, while the other was roaming around my waist. He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer, then started to unbutton my shirt.
I suddenly opened my eyes and realized the rain had stopped, and we were standing on the roadside. I hit his chest to stop him—even though I didn’t want him to stop, we were in public. My hit was weak, so instead, I bit his lips. He looked at me with a why are you interrupting expression.
“Sorry,” he said, and started buttoning my shirt by himself. I smiled.
“It’s okay,” I said. “The rain has stopped. Let’s go home.”
He fixed his clothes and said, “Let’s go.”
He wrapped his arm around my waist and grabbed it like he had won it. I didn’t remove his hand—I loved it. He kissed my cheek.
I tried to hit him, but he caught my hand and said, “I love you, my potato baby.”
“Don’t call me that,” I said, trying to look angry.
“What should I call you then? Should I call you my wife?”
He kissed my cheek again.
“Shut up. Let’s go,” I said, and we went home.

That night, I lay on my bed, smiling like an idiot. My heart still felt full.
I picked up my phone and texted Maya.
Me: Thomas likes me. I confessed to him.
Maya: REALLY?? 😳😳 Tell me everything!!!

Maya: WHATTT 😱😱 Tell me moreee!!!

Maya: Now you got a boyfriend and you forget me.🙄😒
I ignored her message and opened Thomas’s chat.
Thomas: What are you doing, my babe?
Me: Nothing. Why did you text me?
Thomas: I was just missing you.
Me: I miss you too.
Thomas: Let’s go to school together tomorrow.
Me: Will that be okay?
Thomas: Totally okay.
I smiled at my screen.
.
Me: Then fine. I’ll sleep now. Good night, babe.
Thomas: Good night, sweetheart ❤️😘
I hugged my pillow, my lips still remembering him, and fell asleep with the happiest smile.
