Quick Review
"This story is surprisingly scary... So first things first. A scary machine. Ok. I get that. It's sort of obvious with the title and genre that men were getting crushed between the gears. Just pointing that out. The prologue is a bit short and could be seen as Chapter 1. Your chapters are a bit short, but that's okay. So, I have no complaints on this story and it's just the prologue I see that's the flaw of your story. Not that your prologue wasn't written out nicely. Comic Relief. I think it's great that the protagonist provides comic relief in a horror story. I don't write horror so if there shouldn't be comic relief, there shouldn't be. I don't write horror, so I shouldn't be judging this. Everyone's gotta admit that the little boy sounds cute in the story. So great story so far! Voted already!"
I love it!
"Wow. This is my first vote EVER! Now I really want to adapt your story into a stage play. I have to admit that I got lost sometimes, especially in the first two chapters, when you just use Max's grandfather, Max's uncle, and father to call the characters. I also got confused about the point of view and who was speaking in the later chapters, but your story is the first story I completely read right away! I like the way you describe the scene when people was in the machine. It was terrifying to see (or read) a little boy laughing and giggling while watching the execution and I think that is the most powerful thing in your story. In the scene where the uncle was trying to rape Max, I could see that you tried not to make it explicit (Am I right?), but I think it needs just a little details just to show that Max was once an innocent boy. The ending was a little unpredictable, though. I thought Max would start another cycle there. Anyway, good job!"
Very interesting!
"It's rare to see a horror or thriller type story where the protagonist is the one calling the shots or doing the killing. That's a very interesting route to take and it looks to be very compelling, especially with the people Max is hunting. The opening scenes are a little hard to follow because there are no name used, but beyond that I found it to be a very good read."
Man, that was good.
"First off, let me say I absolutely love good horror stories and I think what helps make them good is when you can take real life incidents or tragedies and then add a horror element that makes it all the more thrilling. This was so good. I mean, like really good. I mean, like reading while at work, not getting any work done, good. I just had to finish this story and I gotta say, so far out of all the stories I've read on this site, this is my favorite. I adore the quotes before each chapter. They're so haunting and fit so well the theme of the story so great choices there. You really have a penchant for horror writing, this actually gave me the chills. I honestly saw the story going a different way towards the end, so kudos on your twist ending. I think you could be more graphic especially with the more uncomfortable parts of the story (molestation, murder, turning bodies into dolls, etc.) it's already pretty scary as is, but I'd love some colorful descriptive language thrown in there as well. But still, tremendous story. Will read more."
