Episode One — Blackwall Rising

The sky above Veyrith burned crimson.

Not from sunset.

From fire.

Military carriers roared through thick clouds while evacuation sirens screamed across the outer districts. Searchlights swept endlessly over collapsing streets where frightened civilians flooded transit routes in chaos.

And beneath the city—

something alive was waking.

Saint Gabriel Hospital trembled violently.

Chunks of concrete crashed into the buried streets below while orange fractures spread across every remaining wall like glowing infections.

Kai could barely stand.

Pain tore through his body in waves as the fractures beneath his skin pulsed brighter with every heartbeat from below.

THOOM.

THOOM.

THOOM.

The gigantic creature beneath the Undergrid continued rising slowly through the shattered foundations while thousands of Hollow gathered around it in worshipful silence.

And inside its chest—

the reflection of Kai watched him.

Waiting.

The whispers inside his mind returned softly.

“The bridge opens…”

“No…” Kai muttered weakly.

Mira grabbed his arm immediately before he stumbled toward the fracture edge again.

“Kai, stay with me.”

Her voice cut through the noise somehow.

Grounding.

Real.

For one brief moment, the unbearable pressure inside his mind weakened slightly.

The Heart noticed instantly.

The underground creature’s massive eyes slowly shifted toward Mira.

And every Hollow beneath the city whispered together:

“Interference…”

Mira’s expression hardened.

“Yeah? Get used to me.”

Ryker rushed toward Evelyn through falling debris.

“Blackwall aerial division has entered Veyrith airspace.”

Another tremor shook the hospital violently.

The upper surgical wing partially collapsed into the Undergrid below, revealing more of the impossible buried city beneath Saint Gabriel.

Orange-lit towers stretched endlessly underground.

Breathing.

Moving.

Alive.

Kai stared downward in horror.

The buried city had grown larger.

That wasn’t possible.

Lena saw it too.

“It’s expanding…”

Evelyn’s face darkened immediately.

“The synchronization field is accelerating structural adaptation.”

Ryker looked irritated.

“Could you say one sentence without sounding insane?”

Before Evelyn could answer—

all lights inside the hospital died instantly.

Darkness swallowed the corridors.

Then came the sound.

A deep metallic horn echoing from somewhere above the city.

Mira froze.

“No…”

Outside the shattered hospital walls, massive searchlights suddenly ignited across the sky.

Blackwall had arrived.

Huge aircraft hovered above Veyrith’s skyline like floating fortresses. Their undersides glowed blue with suppression technology while smaller assault carriers descended through smoke-filled skies toward Saint Gabriel.

Broadcast systems activated across the district immediately.

A cold artificial voice echoed everywhere:

“Emergency resonance quarantine is now active.”

“All civilians remain motionless for emotional assessment.”

“Resistance will be terminated.”

Kai looked toward the burning skyline.

“They’re locking down the whole city…”

Evelyn answered quietly:

“They’re preparing extermination parameters.”

Silence hit hard.

Even Ryker looked disturbed now.

Then suddenly—

the underground creature roared.

The sound shook the entire district.

Blackwall aircraft above immediately responded.

Blue suppression beams fired downward across Veyrith like massive pillars of light.

The effect was instant.

The Hollow throughout the buried city screamed violently.

Orange fractures dimmed temporarily.

Even Kai felt his emotions dull slightly.

The Heart hated the suppression waves.

But something else happened too.

Civilians above ground began collapsing.

People screamed in pain throughout the streets outside.

Mira frowned immediately.

“What are they doing?”

Lena looked horrified.

“The suppression frequency is too strong…”

Kai suddenly heard thousands of emotions flooding through him again.

Fear.

Panic.

Agony.

The suppression wasn’t just targeting resonance.

It was crushing human emotion itself.

Outside the hospital, civilians dropped to their knees crying while Blackwall drones scanned the streets mechanically.

And then Kai saw something terrifying through the broken walls—

some civilians were changing.

Orange fractures appeared beneath their skin spontaneously.

Not from contact.

From fear.

The Heart whispered softly inside him:

“Humanity awakens…”

One frightened man outside screamed as shadows erupted violently from beneath his body.

Blackwall soldiers opened fire instantly.

Blue pulse rounds tore him apart in seconds.

The surrounding crowd panicked.

And panic fed the resonance further.

More fractures appeared.

More screaming.

More transformations.

Kai’s eyes widened.

“They’re making it worse.”

Evelyn didn’t deny it.

Because she already knew.

Blackwall containment wasn’t designed to save Veyrith anymore.

It was designed to stop spread at any cost.

The gigantic creature beneath the Undergrid suddenly moved faster.

The suppression attacks had enraged it.

Massive black tendrils exploded upward through the city foundations, tearing apart underground structures.

The Hollow began swarming upward in huge waves toward the surface.

Blackwall aircraft immediately opened fire.

The war for Veyrith had officially begun.

And standing between both sides—

was Kai.
