1: Wild Roses
Ebony hair
snowy skin
velvet gown
flowing wind
A bed of roses
at the riverside
the warmth of May
my weary soul
A snake slithers by
on those wondrous
roses
it's scales
rasping against
the petals so red
It seems that
the seasons change
when I tire
of the yellows
and reds of fall
or the green
of a summer's day
The forest hums
with nature's
tedium
everything big and
small scrambling to
survive
But my roses
and I
those Wild roses
are calm and
serene, frozen
in time
their sweet scent
wrapping me in
comforting warmth
those Wild roses
My mind spins
a thousand
little things
buzzing about
like hummingbirds
in my head
But when I
rest on the
Wild roses
that bed of
roses by
the riverside,
I forget my
troubles and
watch the years
pass by,
the seasons change,
the red and orange
give way to
green and white
Those Wild roses
they shimmer with dew
they smell so new
a mindless, lovely elixir
an escape from life's
reckless, chaotic rush
those Wild roses
Those Wild roses
