10th July 2026
If only I had died in the womb,
I would never have been a shame.
If only I had died in my sleep,
Perhaps my sins would have been forgiven,
But my love's tears
Would have filled my coffin.
I wish I were lying on a deathbed,
And someone would say,
"Oh, poor child with such great talent."
But those would only be words.
The whispers about my mistakes
Would grow louder.
People would wear their finest clothes,
Perhaps because the shame was gone.
The whispers would turn
Into laughter, screams, and tears.
I wished they would bury me soon.
I wished they would carry my coffin,
And I prayed,
"For this once, let me not be a burden."
Days would pass.
My body would rot
And slowly return to the earth.
But, my love,
There would be flowers above me—
The ones you brought
Only for me.
There would be singing at my grave,
Carried by the voice of my love.
There would be stories told
About how his days once were.
And beneath the ground,
I would always wait
For my favourite visitor,
With a smile on my face.
