A Journey Of Love
"I really enjoyed reading this. It was quite full of adventures and twists and turns. The only things I would suggest would be to first have some of the chapters possibly shortened a bit so they're not so long. The other would have been to write a note that there is a time jump in certain chapters because that did make it a little confusing. Besides that, I enjoyed this story."
So deep😭
"Taught me so much about abuse and people who are neglected and abused as children. In the beginning I really was irritated with Meghan and decisions she made. But later realized what kind of mental trauma she has been through and why she is the way she is. Iam so proud of Meghan but iam more proud of Alex because it takes someone really strong to love a person like Meghan. I am so happy I decided to read this story, it has been enlightening. ♥️"
Great Story! Definitely recommended!

"I felt it was a really good book to read. It kept my attention. At times was hard too put down. I also had a great fondness and childhood crush on George Michael, and can relate to this. And have had gay friends ridiculed by family and the church. "
An unforgettable story of love, idol worship and overcoming obstacles
"In “Unspoken Vows”, author Maisy Menold brings to life a fantasy that every teenage fan of pop bands wish to make reality, and a young woman with a dark past struggling to free herself of the pain that was all too common in the time of wild hair bands, synthetic new wave and pop idols that graced the pages of teen magazines. In the midst of this is a former pop sensation Alex Corwynn who has grown up to a mature and responsible man in the music industry, and he emerges as the “white knight” perfect match for Megan Beal. Rare is the occasion that I invest in soap opera couples, or couples with soap opera qualities, but Alex’s devotion to Megan makes you root for them to be together, praying that they never split up, knowing that loving someone who can teach her to love will be the only way for Megan to heal. Menold succeeds in making the romantic elements of the relationship work as they develop and blossom into solid and secure future, like a flower that takes an entire novel to bloom. Readers of the modernized romance novel will appreciate the connection between Alex and Megan’s relationship and Megan’s trek to overcome the dark shadows – if they can handle the dramatic situations that she gets herself into – while fans of 80’s and perhaps 90’s music will be interested in the elements of Alex’s music career and how he handles himself as both music mogul and famous figure in AIDS advocacy. In the writing process, Menold succeeds in combining these two elements to create two believable main characters and the obstacles that face them. There are a few issues with wording and paragraph structure and repetition. I’ve noticed a couple of instances where one paragraph is broken up by an incomplete sentence or word, and the next paragraph begins with the rest of the sentence. Also, by “repetition,” I talk about the fact that the author has managed to write two chapters in one, then repeated the action in the second chapter in the very next chapter. This may be nothing, but it can be a bit of a turn-off to readers in a published book. As well, there are some issues with punctuation (I’ve certainly noticed some places where commas can be helpful,) but these are all things that can be fixed with some professional and eagle-eyed editing. Nevertheless, these issues did little to distract me from an investing and interesting plot. As well, there were some scenes where conversation is exchanged and all we see are quotes. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the reader just may get either bored or confused about who is saying what, especially if readers aren’t into the trading of small talk back and forth. I would suggest adding a “beat” of action from the speaker where appropriate either before or after the quote, so the reader can at least keep track of who’s speaking. However, if the readers can overcome this, the results are an unforgettable tale of falling in love with someone you’ve idolized for many years while facing and overcoming challenges and demons with support and love. A brilliant story, and I look forward to what else the Heartbeat series has in store."
Unspoken Vows
"This was a powerful story with a powerful narrative, my only issue is that I think it dragged on a bit long but that might just be me."
Amazing
"This author has such a great ability to bring characters to life so vividly clear in the reader's mind, and engage them from the off. I loved this book, and can't wait to read more of your work. Thanks for such a great read :) Please keep writing!"
Great story!
"Author has a great gift for voice. Most first person novels need a name at the top.to.reveal.who is speaking. It was not needed. I can't wait to read more of her works!"
Beautiful, Haunting, Sweet and Jarring Epic Love Story
"Unspoken Vows (Book 1) by Maisy Menold takes a long, winding path, carrying the reader along a high arc that winds through the lives of the main characters like a scary and dangerous yet exhilarating roller coaster. Her depictions of gruesome and depraved physical and mental abuse is haunting, harrowing and horrifyingly memorable. The trauma endured by the main character, Meg, is heartbreaking and hard to take at times. Her development from abused child, to sexy foil for the other main character, Alex, to adult sexual violence victim, to happy, loving partner is a truly satisfying outcome, in contrast to the pain she experiences throughout the first and second acts. Likewise, the metamorphosis of her other main character, Alex, is also a fun and happy journey as he makes his way from an aged, aimless and fairly crass former pop star to a loving, doting partner to Meg. This romantic drama takes the reader through some high ups and some very dark downs and is its best and most riveting when describing and demonstrating the intense psychology and impact of sexual, physical and mental abuse. As much as it amounts to a happy romantic melodrama, it also serves as a deep character study of the trauma associated with Meg's inhumane, violent experiences. If any criticism, the romantic union between Meg and Alex is rarely in doubt. The tension and conflict of the story is largely external as there is hardly a point at which the reader doubts or worries that the relationship might not make it. In other words, the romantic leads seem to fall too deeply in love too soon in the story. Some further internal conflict of some sort might create more apprehension in the reader and give the story even greater intensity from start to finish. But, on balance, the writer has an excellent ability to generate likable characters that readers want to root for and real, gritty emotional trauma that grips the reader and leaves a memorable lasting impression. Maisy is a wonderful writer with a great talent for plot, character, conflict and resolution. And, her novel is a thoroughly enjoyable read!"
