Prologue
She always had beautiful golden curls. Like a golden halo of hair that wrapped around her head. What she was doing right now wasn’t the most sacred thing, however.
I couldn’t believe what I saw as I peered into the room.
The most beautiful girl in the school. Obviously he would choose her. She was the perfect girl. The type of girl guys fought over. Who could do her makeup to perfection, and it looked almost natural because that is who she is. The type of girl who could steal a boy with a snap of her fingers and the flutter of her lashes. It didn’t matter if he was single or not.
Who wouldn’t even have to bat an eye to get a guy.
Oh, but the heart clenching fact is that the guy she has taken to bed just so happens to be the guy my heart belongs to. And yet, it seems I don’t own his.
Their clothes lay on the floor, the sliver of light I let into the room as I had mistakenly opened the door isn’t enough to distract them.
The party rages on, and even with the music throbbing in my ears I can hear the sound of a shattering heart. I blink back tears as I close the door. I try to hold back the wave of emotion.
The shudder of jealousy coursing through my body as my guy is with another, perfect girl. I don’t know how, but my mind manages to banish the vivid picture that floats through my head. Like an instant replay of my worst moment. I know that I must do something, because the knife in my heart is twisting.
In this moment, I decide to do something possibly catastrophic.
I will make Harris Mckee jealous.
