Prologue

“Sachi, are you sure about doing this? You’re not immortal, you know?”

“I know what I’m doing, leave this to me. If I die today, let my wife and Ken know I love them.”

Sachi unsheathed his blade and rushed forward, he leaped then landed on the enemy ship. With a quick but strong swing with his blade, he chopped off the heads of many men. Men on Sachi’s ship sighed and smiled as they rushed onto the enemy ship and decapitated the rest of the men on the ship.

“Why did you guys follow?” Sachi questioned as he searched for weapons under the pile of dead bodies.

“We’re a team, if we die, we die together.” Responded the childhood friend of Sachi’s. “I’m not going to let my best friend die while I watch, that’s just cruel.”

“How very like you, Sora.” Sachi sighed as he picked up a Tanegashima and placed it in his matchlock holder on the side of his pants. He then searched the remaining bodies for ammo. “This Civil war is useless if we keep this up Japan is destined to fall.”

Sora looked up at the sky and sighed, “Japan is destined to fall one day, but I never thought it was going to be like this.” He thrust a dead body up in front of himself as a few dozen arrows rained from the sky. “Arrows incoming!”

The men of Sachi’s ship held out their shields for the incoming wave of arrows. The metal tips clashed against the wooden shields, as Sachi barked, “it’s time to show them who’s the superior side!”

Once again the men boarded the enemy’s boat and beheaded everyone on the ship. “This is the last ship from their side, it seems like we have won this battle,” Sachi concluded to himself then he turned his body to face his fellow teammates. “We have defeated the enemy for this battle! We may return home to our families safe and sound!” He barked and smiled.

Bang. A bullet flew through the air and landed right on the chest of Sachi. His eyes rolled back as he plummeted to the wooden planks of the ship. A dying soldier on the floor gave one last smirk as his body went lifeless. The crew rushed towards Sachi’s body, “Sachi! Can you hear me? Wake up, please…” Sora cried out then placed his head on the heart of Sachi and heard a slight beat. “He’s still alive, we need a medic, someone who can treat a fatal wound… NOW!”

A beefy man rushed towards the body of Sachi and examined the wound.”Vice-captain… I’m sorry to say that… Captain Sachi won’t make it… Not this time, the wound is way too deep and it hit is vitals…”

Sachi opened his eyes one last time, then raised out his hand. Sora held his hand tightly, “Sora, you’ve been a g-great friend…” Sachi coughed out a large amount of blood, “and I trust you to take care of my child” he coughed out more blood, “my wif…” His words faded as his eyes turned colorless on the blood-stained wooden planks of the ship.

Teardrops dripped from Sora and the other’s eyes, their tears like raindrops hitting the wooden planks, they all stared up at the dark clouded sky. “I guess this is just all apart of life… Everyone dies right…?” Sora turned to face the rest of the crew, his eyes filled with tears, “let’s give the captain the departure he most deserved! Get the boats ready” he ordered as the tried to wipe the tears from his face.

The crew cleaned themselves up, then placed Sachi on a small wooden raft. His blade laid upon his chest, the crew lighted up torches and threw them on the wooden raft were Sachi laid, then they all placed their fists on their chest as they watched their captain’s raft go up in flames. “This is the burial of a true warrior,” Sora concluded, he once again looked up at the sky, where the rain began to pour down on them.
