Prologue

If you’re reading this, be warned, the tale I am about to tell you is neither joyful, nor encouraging. It is a tale of sorrow and joy, loyalty and betrayal, love and heartbreak. Not all survive, but those who do, are never again the same…

The world of Monaterreth was once a peaceful and prosperous society, the many races united by the beloved Sayasha monarchy. But all of this changed when the war came. It started as a hiccup, a heartbeat…a gun shot. A war between the races, a war of the world. It lasted centuries, centuries of bloodshed and chaos that saw the fall of the monarchy and the rise of the democracy. But then, after two centuries of devision, a uniting factor arose, a common enemy:

The Gementites.

No one knows where they came from. No one knows what they are. But we do know what they want; destruction.

The Gementite monsters first appeared in the midst of the bloody war that had torn apart our world, once again bringing chaos upon the races of Monaterreth. The Gementites were attracted to electricity, feeding off of it and growing stronger. The first of the many attacks destroyed billions of lives, also obliterating any and all technology that ran on electricity...including weapons.

Cities fell into ruins, even the great floating city of Areya, home of the Sky People and Talons.

Old steam powered engines, radios and first model airships were brought back into commission. Baser class vehicles such as motorcars and motorbikes were called out of retirement, becoming the main ways of transportation.

And after years of cowering in terror, hiding from the creatures of darkness in our own dark corners, we finally managed to form a response team made up of anyone from any race, each with their own ability and use. We fought back, formed rules and curfews, barely salvaging the last remnants of order and government…Three hundred years later, we have repaired and recovered, fending off the Gementites with tightly organized attack forces.

But…things are changing. Something is coming, the Gementites are getting smarter, more organized.

But even more disturbing, the government is gaining a tighter hold. Curfews are earlier, distrust rises. Patrols now roam the cities, keeping an eye on everything and everyone. Rebellions have formed and no one is safe. Fear is tightly interwoven into everyday life as unease continues to grow.

It’s like an inevitable explosion building, pressure rising, just waiting to be released. And I fear that when it is released, when time runs out, there will be no escape.

This is your last chance to stop, to lay the book down and leave the tale be. For once you enter this world, you cannot leave until the last word has rung, until the last verse has been sung…

Silver's Second Chance

Ku_Rolet: I love the story and the love between the couple. It doesn’t drag unnecessarily, which I really enjoyed. However, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed because Silver being a druid was revealed so suddenly, without much explanation. That part of the story still feels like a mystery, especially how...
