"Ghost in the Roses Author: Anna Judge Review Winter 2021 At the time of this review I had completed six chapters to this long story. My congratulations in regards to submitting a fully completed book. Seeing authors show off their completed work shows initiative, passion and dedication to the craft. In regards to the story you had set it to fantasy and drama. Reading into the first 6 chapters the story does exceed at both. In both the dramatic attack by a fellow knight into the dragons themselves the rode upon. The simple things that create the world passively such as the instance of the capricons or the angry dwarf aboard the train. Showing us the reader these instances of world building in a fantasy scenario was well thought out. It seems the author was deliberate in reagards to plot development as well. From karma/ justice for the Noir fellow. Up to perhaps foreshadowing at the magical ceiling. There are key examples along this story that brushed into the plot itself seems to excell at. Scene pacing however is one thing I would like to see slow down. The descriptions were great not too long, short, or over complicated. But the transition to a new scene was slightly jaring, I would include minor details to ease these transitions slightly. My expectations of the story were subverted in all earnestly. Was expecting a harry potter clone but the distinctions are clear enough that this was not the case. The timing on certain things such as doing the ball first shook things up to keep an academy/school scene fresh. The story itself read fine as well. However If I would make a suggestion, would be that the style of writing and verbiage would fit better for young adult readers. Clean out the cussing and replace with more wity remarks and tailor it closer to that market and I see this succeeding with a few more reads and edits. This is evident by the style of humor the author was looking to go for as well. Which helped liven up the atmosphere in the story. Assumptions aside should the story take a darker turn these moments of brevity among our characters would keep this fantasy from becoming a grim dark fantasy. In conclusion I enjoyed your work and style in this story and would consider reading more in the future. Work on editing as a few mistakes were found, along with scene pacing and format. All in all great work. --Rating-- Style: Style: Style in the written language unique to the author. How does your work stand out from the rest. 17/20 Theme: How did the theme of the story fit the genre it is trying to represent. How well did it succeed. 16/20. Originality: Story elements and plot that leads to a great story. Tired tropes and cliché endings are a bore I do not adore. 15/20 Engagement: At what point was I captivated by the story. What makes me want to turn that page or put the book down. 19/20 Editing: How well your book is edited. 18/20 Total: 85/100"

"I really like how there's not a single dull moment and every happening is a foreshadowing of an unforeseeable event. While the story could use a beta reading, the author compensated with the use of metaphors and imagery which sure does wonders for us readers to see Adrien's world even without a picture. And the humor! I'd say it's a good read for a day of relaxing. I also like this story's hero, a logical, family-oriented, teenager who is very relatable and not a fool for love. I like how he seeks the story from both sides and is not jaded on his judgment. Oh, and he's not OP! He even got shot by an arrow on his ass quite literally. This is just the kind of story I've been looking for and I look forward to more chapters and more stories from this author. Kuds 😊👍"

"This is absolutely a fun read! The story flows very nicely, the author is quite good for pulling the readers in and making it immersive. The world is so well described and fleshed out it feels like the reader is actually there. The characters are well written and well rounded. The story was quite simple and easy to follow through, and I never felt lost for anything as the author explains this quite well in good details. There were quite a few mistakes in grammar, though it wasn't anything too serious. Overall I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to anyone who likes a fun fantasy. I wish tthe author well in future writings! "

"I have to say I really loved this story. It takes you on an emotional story ride through the whole thing. It made me laugh, angry, even tear up. The descriptions were amazing, they made it so easy to picture everything that was going on. There was so much fantasy in the story, from the magical school, to all the different mystical creatures. I highly suggest this story to anyone who loves fantasy. I am so glad I got introduced to this story. I'm so sad that it is over though."

"This is such a cool concept for a story! Reminds me of other magical schools that have been in stories before, but this one is still very unique and unlike others I’ve read! The writing style pulled me right into the story from the beginning, and kept me on my toes throughout the story. The characters are great, the world is well described and well realized, and the flow is great as well. A couple small grammatical errors, but nothing major, just something to note. Overall a very cool original idea and I loved it! :) "

"This was a enjoyable story so far. Your writing style is quite simple yet descriptive enough that I can very much envision anything that's going on. Your characters are well written in a way that each character seem to have their own quirks and flaws and doesn't make them too lacking in depth and growth that some beginner writers have trouble writing characters in a way that engage our emotions. There was a few spelling mistakes here and there, though wasn't major enough to distract from the story. Overall this is a pretty good story and I would recommend this to anyone and I wish you well on your future writings."

"It is one of the best stories on inkitt. Really enjoyed it. I liked that it did not drag on, you could see from the writing that the writer was sure of the plot and knew where he wanted to go, I was a bit sad about adrien and really wanted to witness the encounter between kai, nina, their family and adrien. But still it was awesome."
