Chelsea

“Chelsea Louise Johnson!” My dad exclaimed from behind me. I jumped, squealed when his arms suddenly wrapped around me tightly. I laughed, jumping a little as I turned and hugged him just as tight.

We were at the front of the airport and I was home again.

Sydney, Australia.

I’d come from my boarding school of arts in New York because my scholarship finished. I was there for six months, half a year and now I’m home and I can’t be happier. It’s not that America was bad but I just missed my home and my dad and my six brothers.

Yes. Six brothers.

I’m the only girl. I’ve always wanted a sister but I guess I now have one since Dad married someone I’m yet to meet who has a daughter. I tried coming back for their wedding but my workload was full and the flights were expensive over December. I got enough from my brothers over Skype to know exactly how it happened.

“Old man I love to hell and back!” I exclaimed in Dad’s ear, making him chuckle lowly before he let me go. I smiled at him while he kissed my forehead until I was on the ground with someone heavy.

I cried at the landing but soon after laughed from the big kisses coming from my twin, Caleb but also the tickles Peter gave me.

“Stop! Both of you! Ah, more embarrassing by the year,” I rolled my eyes when they finally stopped but laughed. They got up before I looked up to a giggling couple that passed, looking at us.

“I think they missed you,” the girl smiled and I nodded and laughed.

“I think so too.”

“Err, you sound American,” my littlest brother, Joe put in and I smirked and opened my arms to him, while on the ground still. “But I missed you!” He cried as he hugged me tight and I held him to my chest.

Youngest at five but he looked like the rest of us, Dad’s thick dirty blonde hair and dark ocean blue eyes but then Mum’s facial features. Apart from Luke and Toby who are spitting images of Dad. Luke was my little brother at twelve while Toby was the oldest at twenty, out of school and living with his fiancée, the girl he’s dated since high school, in their own apartment more into the city. It was also closer to their university.

“Okay, off the ground, you don’t know what’s been on it since they last cleaned it,” Caleb said, taking my hands and pulling me up.

Yep, leave it to my twin to ruin the moment.

I smirked at him, poked his chest a little and realised he’d grown so tall and muscular since almost seven months ago.

“What are these?!” I squeezed what used to be his squishy biceps but they were so hard now.

“He gets enough girls fainting over them, he doesn’t need you too,” Peter rolled his eyes as Caleb stepped back a few spaces.

“Well, he’s not the only one who hit the gym,” I pointed out and rolled my eyes at their looks, even my father looked shocked. “Look!” I waved my hands down at myself before I grabbed Peter’s hand and pushed it at my stomach, which was shown off a little by my tied shirt.

“Hey, it’s not so squishy either,” he pointed out before he punched my stomach hard enough to make me grunt and bend over forward, holding my stomach. “Caleb and I hit the gym most nights. As well as Gale and a few other boys from his team.”

One thing you should know about my fourteen-year-old brother, Peter, is that he’s a complete showoff.

“See, feel my biceps,” he flexed and I laughed when Dad just rolled his eyes with Joe. “Feel them. You felt Caleb’s, now you have to feel mine,” he ordered, pulling his sleeve up a little. I sighed and poked them before I poked his side and got my revenge. He squealed like a little girl, squirming in my arms and Joe laughed and jumping in to tickle him too.

The Johnson weakness; we’re all ticklish.

“Enough,” Dad barked and I poked Peter once more before I stopped. He only poked me back while Dad got one of my three bags.

“Peter,” I snapped, slapping his head. He growled and punched my arm. “Stop!”

“Both of you. It hasn’t even been ten minutes, for goodness sake,” Dad snapped and I put my backpack over my shoulder while Caleb got my other suitcase. “Everyone else is dying to see you at home. We don’t want to be as late as we already are.”

My plane landed late and then I had to get my bags, which took basically another half an hour. After that, it was a fifteen-minute walk to the front doors. Then I was waiting for two minutes before the famous Johnson greeting started with hugs, kisses, tickles and fights.

“What on earth do you have in this?” Caleb grumbled, looking back at my suitcase.

“Well, my course books since they’re important to me and my travel. A few gifts…for Toby of course-.”

“Right. Always the favourite brother.”

“But what about me?!” Joe butted in as his little hand wrapped around mine. I squeezed it as I smirked down at him.

“You’re my favourite but they don’t know,” I whispered, “don’t tell them,” I snapped and he laughed and jumped with joy while we walked out the doors. The hot summer breeze hit and I groaned, slowly suffocating.

“I did not miss this heat though,” I muttered, “but I did miss the sun!”

“You do look a little paler, yeah,” Peter commented and I shoved him away from me, only he landed into Caleb. I cut my laugh when Caleb dropped the handle of my suitcase and he stopped, groaned as he looked from Peter to me.

“Oh, now you have to bend all the way down and pick it up again,” I whined for him, making Peter and Joe laugh. Caleb bent all the way down and took hold of the handle again before we were all crossing over the pickup/drop off road and heading towards the parking lot.

“Whoop, whoop! I’m going home!” I sang as I skipped with Joe to the nice, dark grey Holden Dad had for his new car.

“Whoop, whoop, you’re coming home!” Joe sang back and I laughed a little, opened up the boot when Dad clicked the car unlocked.

“How was leaving?” Dad asked and I shrugged softly while Joe and Peter got into the car.

“It was alright. Wren was sad and she made me cry but I’ll call her later.”

Wren’s my best friend and the only girl in my life at the moment. My family knew her from over Skype with all the videos we’ve had together.

She was shy and nerdy but she was fun and liked what I liked. She liked playing a bit of basketball and soccer in our frees. She liked studying me or watching horror films until four in the morning. We never left each other unless for our separate classes and sometimes the bathroom but a lot of times, we dragged each other to talk while we did our business.

“Okay, let’s go home,” Caleb said, rubbing my head a little. I whacked his hand away and brushed my hair back with my fingers as he chuckled and opened up the front door.

I laughed back when Peter was there with the usual devilish grin before he slammed the door again.

“I’m in the middle!” I said, jumping into the back before him. Joe was on the other side but I smirked at how he was in a different booster seat, one for more his size and age.

“Oooh, new seat, Bud,” I said while I buckled in.

“Chelsea, I have to show you my new Minecraft world,” Joe started and Peter groaned.

“We hear about it all the time. Shut up for once.”

“Peter,” Dad spoke slowly but it was a warning while he drove us out of the airport.

“I’ve got dragons!”

“Wow!” I exclaimed and he smiled, facing me more.

“Yeah and…”

It was a long drive with Joseph Johnson’s new developments in the obsessive game Minecraft. Not only that, Peter was trying to deafen him with the music but Joe never stopped, he just talked louder.

By the end, Caleb shut everything up and when it was silent, I fell asleep on him. Typical.
