“Etasha, come on get ready for the Birthday party” Roli calls from inside the bedroom.

Etasha is playing with his brother Ahon on the balcony. She runs inside the bedroom to change herself.

Etasha is a 6 years old tom-girl. She likes to wear tucked in shirts and half-pants. Gets herself ready with her favorite green color shirt with blue flowered jacket and her red colored jeans pant. Combining her bob cut hair with her pink hair pin to the side of her temple.

Roli came inside the bedroom with Ahon, 4 years old chubby boy in her hand and stared at Etasha. She does not like Etasha getting herself dressing like boys and always wants her to be like a normal girl.

“What’s this Etasha?” Roli snaps

“It’s a birthday party, not a circus. Please make yourself pleasant at least for birthdays. Go wear that pin color flora dress that Ilona Aunty got you last time.”

“But ma, I like this and play around, it’s my favorite. I am not taking out this dress”

Roli comes and grabs Etasha and tries to change her dress. Etasha creating tantrums escapes from Roli and in the process Roli slips on ground, rubbing her elbow to the wall and hurting herself.

Listening to all the rumbles from the bedroom, Aovinash, Etasha’s father comes to her escape.

Aovinash picking her wife, “Roli, are you ok, did you hurt yourself.”

Staring Aovinash with red eyes and tears around her eye’s corner, “It’s all your fault, why do you pamper her so much. She is not a small kid anymore.”

“Why can’t she wear a decent dress? Always shirt and pants like boys. She is a big girl now. She looks so pretty in that pink……”

Aovinash cutting her words, “Oh come on Roli, she is just a 6 year old kid who wants to play and run around. Don’t start teaching all of society’s culture at such a young age. She will learn herself gradually.”

“Let her be the way she is. We are getting late. Let’s go”

Without answering to Aovinash, Roli turns around, gathers children and moves out.

Aovinash, Roli sit in the front seat of the car and Kids at the back. Driving through crowded road they reach the destination.

Reaching to the destination, Roli comes out and hugs her sister Ilona with smile. Aovinash taking the kids enters the party hall. Misti, Ilona’s daughter, dressed like princess is standing near her cake. This is her 6th year birthday. There are lots of people. Party hall is decorated with white and red balloons with fluorescent bulbs, increasing the guest ’s mood and irritating Etasha.

She leaves her father’s hand around boys to play. Roli runs behind Etasha and by then Aovinash grabs her and starts dancing to a mere humsafar song. They both get engrossed themselves in the songs.

Music Stops in the middle and guests get surprised. Ilona goes to see the problem and finds out that there has been a short trip in wires and it will take some time to repair.

Children are busy playing around. Guests are chatting. Some are serving themselves. A melody song covers the hall from back of the stage. It fills the area with rhythm and peace. All eyes are rolling around but no-body to be found.

Roli starts searching Etasha all around the hall but can not find her. With her worried tone she comes to Aovinash and tells him “I cannot see Etasha anywhere. Where is she?”
