Summer Falls

All was quiet in the small town of Summer Falls. One of the most prominent members of the town was dead, and it was clear to everyone that there had been foul play. To the regular townspeople they feared that there was a murdered on the loose, but to the werewolves of the community they knew that it was hunters who had taken aim at their pack. Analie, the daughter of the alpha who had died, was only five years old and too young to take the position of alpha.

"What should we do," The beta, Josiah asked, "Analie is too young to be alpha, and she is a girl. The alpha is usually a male. Males are stronger than females."

The only female Council member glared at Josiah, her eyes flashing a bright luminescent green, "Hush, Josiah before your mouth gets in trouble. He does raise a good point, though. Analie is too young to be alpha. Without an alpha the pack will fall into chaos."

Nehemiah, another Council member sighed, rubbing at his temples. "Josiah can be alpha temporarily, until Analie is old enough."

"Are we going to ignore the fact that Analie is a girl," The oldest member of the Council asked and Jaria, snarled at him, her eyes narrowing. Marquis gave her an apologetic look, knowing that she hated that females were looked down on but females had always been considered weaker than men. "Jaria, you know it is true," Marquis said patiently, "Analie has always been a tiny girl and as a wolf she will be small. Even though she has alpha blood, I do not think she is strong enough to handle the alpha position on her own."

"So what," Jaria asked, "Is Analie never to become alpha? Even though it is her birthright?"

"I never said that," Marquis pointed out, "Once Analie finds her mate, then she can take over the position. But until that time, Josiah will be acting alpha."

Jaria scowled, but relented. At least they weren't completely taking the position from Analie.

The little girl would still have a shot at becoming alpha, as long as she found her mate.
