Summary

"Conan the Dandelion," Parker chirped, flashing me his signature grin that revealed his pearly white teeth. "Sounds catchy, doesn't it?" "My name is Conan," I told him for the hundredth time. He raised his shoulders. "Conan the Dandelion." "Why 'Dandelion?'" "First of all, it rhymes with your name. Secondly, you remind me of dandelions." I furrowed my brows. "What do you mean?" Parker looked at me. His messy dark hair fell over his dark eyes, but I've always thought that his untamed features to be one of his charms among many others. "Because, Conan," he murmured, standing so close I feared he could hear my heart racing. His smile slowly faded. "You exist in this world, but there's something ephemeral about you, it scares me. You may be here now, but who knows when the wind will take you away? You'll become a million particles floating in the air, just like a dandelion, but you won't be here anymore. And that... That truly scares me." *** Parker is wild, outgoing, and loves to party. He's a man who lives in the present, unafraid of the future. But what happens when he meets a small boy who doesn't want a future? Spoiler: not your average good boy // bad boy story

Prologue

Dear,

I will probably be gone by the time you read this, but before I leave, I wanted to write you this letter. Though, I am not sure whether it is cruel or not to leave traces of someone who will no longer exist. Perhaps you won’t even find this note. Or perhaps you’ll choose not to read it. Whichever it is, I will let fate decide.

If you do read this letter, I want you to know that no matter what happens, it wasn’t your fault. I’m telling you this because as I grew older, I’ve realized that humans have this sad tendency to blame themselves for outcomes and consequences that weren’t caused by them. It’s a strange mechanism, one that I’ve been victim to as well. So please, if you read this, know that you have done nothing wrong.

Secondly, I want you to know that I am so grateful to have met you, and to have been able to be a part of your life. Meeting you was a turning point, and it allowed me to see the world differently. I have many regrets, but you will never be one of them.

Now, I don’t know if I’ve mustered up the courage to tell you - I hope I did - but if I haven’t, know that I love you. They may be trivial words to you, perhaps they won’t mean anything, but I’ve always seen them as something sacred. I’ve never said them to anyone before.

I have, and always will, love you.

Yours truly

December 14th 2025. I have decided not to read this story because my heart is very fragile and if I break into a million pieces I will not be able to recover. Keep up the good writing tho, I really enjoyed Y.O.L.O.

A poetic and emotionally layered romance about fragility, fear, and learning to hold on to someone who feels like they might drift away.
