I wish I could patch myself up,

before the damage is done.

I’m not strong enough after.

Danger saw from miles away-

they should have alerts for this-

preparation could save a life,

or at least a tear or two.

Each heartbreak hits harder,

although they’re all the same.

I didn’t love them more,

my heart’s just sore from the others.

And I think I’d be fine,

if I could prevent what I know is coming.

I can’t though, so I just wait,

let everything hit,

causing so much pain.

You know, I thought I’d be immune to hurt by now,

God knows I’ve felt enough.

Should’ve built a tolerance,

but maybe there is no such thing.

I’ll always feel pain.

So let the pain hit yet again,

breaking me into pieces,

fragments,

that will never be whole.

I’ll never be whole.

I wish I could patch myself up,

before the damage is done.

I’m not strong enough after.

mariedavismd312: This was Avery spiritual read. The last 2 chapters where very disappointing. That was such a let down unless there is a sequel. Burgess should have been punished for what he did. There was no explanation for his hatred for Jeremiah. I figured he was being set but just had the wrong person. I loved ...
