Just another book

About two weeks ago my dad found a girlfriend. Her name is Beverly and she has a one-year-old son named Nate.

On Friday Beverly asked me if I wanted to shop with her as I was doing an avengers marathon and I said sure. Beverly is nice and all but I feel like she wants me to act more like a girl. She keeps wanting me to buy dresses. As we were coming out of the mall we saw a shooting star. Then we saw my friend Jill. Jill is the kind of person who is always there for you no matter the cost. When we got near each other I mouthed that we would go to her house this weekend.

When I went to leave Beverly tried to stop me and my dad tried to talk to her about the whole thing with her. Jill's parents are constantly fighting and I am bullied at school. so then I just left for Jill’s.

As Jill and I were getting ready for our sleepover, Jill's little sister Emily walked into the room as I was coming in through the window so I would not disturb Ashley. Jill is the oldest of all three of the kids. Then there is Brian then Emily. Ashley is pregnant with a fourth kid. So times are getting hard for her. Emily of course went to go tell Ashley that I was here and when Ashley came in she gave me a sad smile. I told her I had dinner under control and I would put the kids to bed. She said thanks and went to lay down. So Jill and I went downstairs to make tacos. I started making tacos when there was a knock on the door. I told Jill to go see who was at the door and she came back with my other best friend and crush Billy. He said hi and I had Jill go ask what everyone wanted and to distract Emily before she came in here. Then I asked how long he planned on staying because it is super hard to keep Emily busy. He said not long. He said not long because he needed to talk to me and asked if I wanted to be his girlfriend. I said yes, he hugged me, and he left. Jill came back and said the usual and then asked what happened.I told her that he asked me out and to keep it a secret. Then I started making Brian and Emily's plates, then Ashley’s, then finally with Jill’s as lastly mine. As I called the kids down for dinner I turned on a movie for them to watch while they ate. Ashley had her food in her room. Ashley said I am a big help unlike Jill who does not help one bit.

After the dishes were done and the kids were in bed I put on Harry Potter and grabbed the nail stickers I got at the mall earlier. And as we were doing our nails Ashley came in and said, “Thanks again for everything Natile. This means a lot to me. You may not live here but you help way more than someone I know.” Her eyes traveled to my best friend but Jill just pressed her lips together to avoid eye contact.

As we were doing our nails my dad called and was crying. I told him that I would talk to him when I got home. He said ok and that I was the best daughter in the world. And so I replied that I was his only daughter and then he hung up.

The next morning I went home to my dad in his room watching greys anatomy. I told him that I was gonna clean up and then we could talk.

So after I got the house cleaned I went to curl up with my dad to ask what happened while I was gone and he said, “She left me because she didn't want him to be raised around a girl who was like you. But I told her that you have an amazing best friend and her family plus me. And in my opinion you were raised perfectly fine. And You are still being raised perfectly fine” And he was true that i was raised perfectly fine and am still being raised right. So then after that we watched TV for a while and then I said that I was put down to volunteer tonight at the humane society. He asked if I needed anything to bring with me and so I replied that I was going to make a stop at the gas station on my way for a sandwich and that I was going to bring a batch of cupcakes for everyone.

After getting there everyone wanted some cupcakes that my dad baked. Then after enjoying some cupcakes we all got to work. Walking the dogs, training the puppies, getting adoption papers organized, feeding and playing with the cats and kittens. After having a handful of people adopt some animals my dad texted when I would be home. I said after one more adoption then I would be on my way home. He said he was going to run out of town for a bit and that he should be home before I am because adoptions are pretty long. I said ok and was off to help the last adoption for the day when I realized it must have been billys parents because he was there with them and when he saw me he smiled, waved and came towards me. I asked what he was here for and he told me that his parents were here to adopt a pet so that his little sister wasn't so lonely.

I said, “Oh ok well i'll be interviewing you guys for the pet if y'all do end up getting one.”

“Oh really? Do you work here?”

“No, I volunteer here and i do the interviewing part of the adoptions”

So after they picked out a cute little tabby cat named Lily I interviewed them and they were leaving when I heard his mom say, “That is a nice girl Billy you should ask her out.”

And so I heard him reply, “I already did mom. That's my girlfriend.” And after he said that his mom looked back at me in shock and said something about how he made the best choice for a girl.

When I got home my dad was cooking something and there was a girl at the table talking to my dad. I said that I was home and the girl said her name was Evelyn and it was nice to meet me. And so I smiled and said it was nice to meet her and went up to my room to drop my stuff off before I went back to the kitchen. When I got back to the kitchen she was gone. As I sat down while I waited for the water to boil for my tea my dad asked how my day was and so I told him about the adoptions and how I ran into Billy and what his mom had said when they were walking out. He said that was nice and that he seemed like a nice boy. I said he really was. And so after i made my tea i ran upstairs to go get my stuff for cheer to get stuff written for our next game since i was made captain yesterday. When I got back to the kitchen my dad was on the phone and looked concerned. When he got off the phone he said that one of the bakers got hurt while baking a wedding cake. I said oh and laid my stuff on the table.

My dad made blue pancakes, sausage (sadly not blue), And some blue eggs for dinner, the blue foods being based off of one of my favorite book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He is always making blue kinds of blue foods since he started to work at the bakery. He is always baking and making sure I always bring snacks like cupcakes and cookies and stuff like that to the humane society and school and stuff. It does not matter where I go he is always making sure I bring some.

While I was cleaning up when we were done eating I asked my dad if he could drop me off at grandma's barn and he said that I could and if it was ok with grandma then I could stay the night. I said ok and went to go call grandma to see if I could and she said she didn't see how I couldn't but she said to give me a bit so she could get 4 wheelers working. I said ok, hung up, and went to get changed and packed. After i got packed i made sure that i had stuff for cheer because you never know what i could get done before dinner or between dinner and bed.

After grandma came to get me for the weekend I went to put my stuff in her car when Billy pulled up with his Grandparents. He got out and his grandma followed. When Billy noticed me putting my bag and stuff in my grandma’s car he asked where I was going so I told him I was going to my grandma's house for the weekend. He was about to say something when his Grandma came up to us and asked what we were up to. “Um, I was just putting my stuff in my grandma’s car.”

As his grandma approached my dad to shake his hand and introduce herself, me and Billy talked about our plans this weekend. And then my grandma came over and asked if I was ready to go and I said yeah.

And I said I was and told Billy bye and went to go tell my dad I was leaving and that is when Billys mom said, “We should probably get going Billy you still have homework to do.” and then they left. As me and my grandma were on our way to her house she asked about Billy.

And so I said, “He asked me out one night and I said yes. I don't really know his grandparents Yet. I hope that they are super nice. But his mom seems like she is strict.”

“But some grandparents are like that”

“I get that but what if she hits him?”

“Girly do not worry about it I am sure he is fine”

After I got my stuff up in my room at grandmas I went out to play with the goats. And then about an hour of playing with the goats my younger cousins and aunt and uncle came over. I took the kids out back to play on the swingset. And then I went to ask aunt Katie if they could get dirty and she said sure. So then we went and played in the dirt and the mud until aunt katie and uncle ben called for the kids to go shower and change so that they could go home.

After they left I asked if I could ride on the four wheelers and she said sure. After I got mine out I saw Billy walking up to me.

“My grandma lives next door and i saw you playing with kids earlier.” he said.

I replied with, “Yeah they are my cousins. You want to ride one with me?”

“Let me go change first. Then we can.”

After he got changed he saw me already muddy and asked if I rode without him. So I said, “No, I was playing in the mud earlier with my cousins.”

“ Oh. I did not know you liked to get covered in mud and play with kids.”

“Oh? Well I do.”

After grandma told me it was time for dinner I asked Billy wanted to eat with us and he said that he would go and ask. So as he did that I asked my grandma if he could and she said sure. So then he came knocking on the front door and said that he could. We all ate and talked and then me and Billy went back to play outside. After we got outside he asked me to show him some of the cheers that we do. And so I tried to teach him and some were easy for him to do.

After trying that we went to play with the animals and hang out in the tree house. By the time we wake up it's morning. So then we go and get cleaned up and shower at our places and eat and I spend the day on the porch doing stuff for cheer. And when I am trying to do a stunt when my little cousins Beverly and Lily come over and ask if they can try it with me. So then I teach them some of the basics and they manage to get it right after half an hour. Then they had to go because aunt Katie just stopped by to make sure it was ok to bring leftovers later from whatever they were doing. And so after they left I went in to clean up and help with dinner.

After I got home on Sunday I went to unpack and do my laundry. While I was switching the loads over, my phone started to vibrate and I saw that it is jill. When I answered the phone she was crying and was freaking out. Her mom was heading to the hospital to have the baby and she doesn't know what to do with the kids. So I said, “I will go ask my dad if they can come over and play in the backyard.” So I went downstairs to my dad and asked, “Hey dad, is it ok if Jill brings her siblings over to play in the backyard? Her mom's on her way to the hospital to deliver her baby and so she does not know what to do with brian and emily.” So he stopped for a minute and responded, “Sure as long as they do not come in here and be loud and noisy.”

So after about an hour of trying to calm down Jill she brought them over and told them to stay in the backyard. And so then we went up to my room and talked for what seemed like ages. But little did they know what was going to happen in four years.
