The Girl in the Lake

"I admire the storyline and I am pretty sure it has other impressive chapters ahead. The story is coming up well but can't say much now for a chapter is not enough for me to offer the needed constructive. criticism. However, it is a good start."

Keep writing!

"I loved this short story, and the elements you added to it just made it even more creepy and suspenseful. I would have liked to see more of the fathers reaction to him finding out about his wife and daughter, but all in all 10/10!"

Don't stop there.

"This was a good story. Truly should consider thickening it out and making it a larger story instead of one thick chapter! Like your writing is amazing but you should expand your horizons and make it bigger. Everyone including myself would love that."

Mystery and Captivating

"Very good job hooking me in on chapter 1. Most people don't understand you have the first chapter to connect with your readers or even hook them. Great job. The gloves and the girls powers. A very nice touch. I really enjoyed it. Now you need to work on marketing."

A dark tale

"The story is short and dark, but the author doesn't need many words to suck the reader into a sad and lonely tale of death. It did a great job grabbing my attention and keeping it, but it also made me wish there was more to the story. I want more about this world."

A very touching story

"Warning: there will be spoilers in this review. You have been warned. I must start off by applauding your crafting of an interesting tale, I did not want to stop reading it. It was quite the page-turner. That said there were many points where you could enlarge the story. If the narrator was gifted in psychometry at an early age she had to have come up with a way to handle it or she would be driven mad by the constant visions. Nothing like being in a restaurant and having visions of the last person who used your fork and knife, or visions of the animal that died to feed you that dinner. What about laying down on your hand-crocheted blanket and having visions of your deceased grandmother (who had made the blanket.) all night while you try to get some sleep? As for her luck with men. I think she could prepare them ahead of time with trinkets from the guy's family and gradually work up from there. If a guy had an open mind then they would probably end up accepting her "gift." Although touching corpses is pretty out there. You could write a book concerning the main character's early life while eventually having a child with the same gift. How did they figure out gloves helped? I am curious to know. As you can see there are many ways of making this short story into a novel. As an editor friend once told me this story "is in need of a sequel." Apparently, I am not the first to feel that way judging by the other reviewers have posted. If you can make a short story this good then you should be able to make a larger work without problems."
