I'm On My Way Home

“The GPS says I should be home in about 2 and half hours” Evan said “I guess that puts me home at about….5:30”
“Okay” Angie said “What sounds good for supper? Are you restaraunted out yet or would you prefer I made something here, or do you want to just stop and grab something for all of us on your way home?”
“I don’t know, what kind of food sounds good to you?” He said
“Well, the kids and I had tacos Monday, went out for sushi on Tuesday, and had leftover tacos last night… So I guess what I’m saying is Tacos are out of the question and even though I love it, I am not ready for sushi again just yet.” She said
“How about barbeque?” he said “I’ll be driving past that good barbeque joint we like on my home. Does that sound good?” He said
“Oooh yeah!” she said “I’ll ask the kids what they want and I’ll text you our orders when I hang up”
“Sounds good” he said “Well, I better let you go and focus on the road. I’ll see ya in a few hours”
There was a few second pause and then she answered slowly and quietly (obviously distracted) “Yeah…. Ok…. See ya in a bit”
“What’s up, you sound distracted?” he said
“I just saw a couple posts on Facebook about rolling blackouts…” she said as she paused again (no doubt reading more about it). “Apparently it is from the solar flares?” she added in a questioning tone.
“Huh” he said “I haven’t heard anything about it yet. I assume we still have power right?”
“Yeah” she said “What do solar flares have to do with power outages anyway? Is it because of all the new solar panels?”
“No” he said and held back a small laugh. “Solar flares can wreak havoc on the Earth’s magnetic field and can induce voltage surge on power grids that cause them to trip or overload”
“Really?!” she said astonished “Well anyway, don’t forget to get some extra sauces on the side… you know the ones I like”
“Sure” he said “We’ll see you in a few hours”
“K, sweetie… bye” she said and ended the connection.
