The sun streamed down on my wet face. I missed home. I missed my friends, my house, and my animals. I wasn't able to bring my animals with me to Jenisbul. My parents didn't understand me. They loved me and I loved them but we were always fighting.
FLASHBACK
"This isn't fair. I had a life back in Icala. I want to go home," I screamed at my mom.
"This is your home whether you except it or not. This family needed a fresh start," she said with a stern voice.
"No, you are wrong. You and Dad needed a fresh start. You wanna know, why? Because Dad couldn't keep his hands away from his assistant and you guys couldnt handle being shamed upon."
"How dare you! You are so ungrateful. Don't you ever say that again. You hear me? I will make your life a living hell."
"You already have," I spat before jumping out my window with my school books.
FLASHBACK ENDS
I quickly wiped the tears away from my puffy cheeks and continued my way out of the school yard.
"Ahhh... the Icala girl has graced us with her presence," a kid with a hat on snickered.
I put my head down and walked past him until all of a sudden I ran into a hard body. I fell down, scattering my books everywhere. My eyes wandered up to the figure I bumped into who was now trying to help me pick up my books.
"Im sorry. I wasn't watching," I said embracing the embarrassment. His eyes met mine. I had never seen such a beautiful color of blue in my life.
"So you're the Icala girl I've been hearing about. Clumsy one," he talked while reaching his hand down to help me up.
"I guess. Again, I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going," I apologized.
"It is okay, senorita," was the last thing he said before walking away.
I slowly crept in the front door. By this time it was dark outside. Let's just say I took my sweet time walking back to the house. If I was going to live here than I was going to explore some.
"Sarah? Is that you?" my dad asked from the kitchen.
"Who else do you think it would be?"
"Whoa whoa whoa. Tone it down a bit, snarky," he said with a beer in his hand.
Every since the affair, he's been drinking. Our living room floor is already scattered with beer bottles. He's worse when he is really drunk though.
"How was school?" My mom asked.
"It was fine."
"It was fine? Is that all?"
I rolled my eyes and ran up the stairs to my bedroom. I went to my window. I needed to escape from this house. I quietly opened it, sliding it up and slipped down the wooden ladder below it. Once I had both feet on the ground I booked it.
The beach was calm tonight. The moon reflected off of the water. I wandered a ways until I was under a pierre.
I sat down only to think but one thing led to a next and pretty soon I was welcomed by the darkness.
Until all of a sudden I am shaken awake only to meet two piercing blue eyes.
