Chapter One

Looking back on my life, this isn't what I expected it to be. Life throws you curve balls and sometimes you must take that shit going full force. Life is so unexpected and there is so much unknown, but one thing for certain, I sure didn't expect him... my best friend's brother. What to come after him would turn my world around completely.

Let's start from the beginning, shall we?

"I hate my life and this school if I'm being quite honest," I say to my best friend. We had been friends since we were nine and I was mistakenly put in the wrong grade when being a new student. She was the first person to talk to me and ease my embarrassment as the principal explains as loudly as she can that she had put me at the 5th-grade breakfast table instead of the 4th-grade where I was supposed to be.

We have just always been friends since. Now we are in high school and still just as close. She is quieter than I am. I'm blunt and to the point and she is shy and sweet. It's what Kyra is known for, being sweet. Me not so much.

We have been through a lot together really. Kyra's house is like my second home. I'm at her house just as much as mine if not more. I was put into foster care when I was nine with my little brother, Hayden, who was 2 at the time. That's when I moved schools and met Kyra. We stayed with our foster family for a year then finally when my mom had no luck getting us back my aunt took us in. Thankful for her offer but really, she should have just left us in the foster system where our foster parents were about to adopt us.

Instead, I was more of a maid for them doing everything I could to please them and show my appreciation for taking us in. Not to mention her husband was a creep. But like I said I stayed at Kyra's house more than mine. I didn't like leaving my brother alone there so I would only go over to her house when he was staying or spending time with our mother.

Her family soon became like my second family. Her mom and dad were divorced and both remarried. We mostly stayed with her mom and stepdad who always stayed in their room or were gone. I didn't much go around her dad and stepmom due to her mom being more laid back we usually stayed with her. Then there was her brother, Curtis. He was 17, a year and a half older than us and we HATED each other. He would give me the awfullest looks when I would come over which was all the time. Of course, me returning the favor I mean what type of guest would I be if I didn't. I didn't understand what his problem was with me other than me being there all the time.

When I say all the time, I mean it. I even managed to go on a few family vacations with them. Curtis was huffing and whining about my presence.

"Does Sierra need to be with us everywhere we go?" he asked.

"Shut up asshole, she is my friend, sorry you don't have any!" Kyra screams at him.

"I do have friends their just not stuck up my family's ass all the time"

"All of you shut up for once and stop using that language in my car! Curtis, Sierra is welcome here anytime she pleases." Kyra's mom said as we were on our way to one of their vacations.

Curtis wasn't the hottest guy in the school, but he defiantly wasn't hard on the eyes either. He has blue eyes and shaggy brown hair that fell on his forehead. He was lean and had a very athletic body seeing he didn't play any sports. Not that I would ever look at his body I mean come on, we hate each other.

Now back to what I was saying.

"I hate my life and this school if I'm being quite honest" I blurted out as we sat in the gym watching the freakishly hot seniors change out of their sweaty shirts into their school close attire.

"I wonder what Blake is like in bed" Kyra says.

Blake is her childhood crush; she has liked him since 4th grade when we were just becoming friends. Crazy how she has liked him so long and he has never even looked her way. But seeing as she is shy and would never tell him I can see how he doesn't notice her. She is very pretty though, she has long dirty blonde hair and the sweetest smile anyone could ever imagine. Her smile is so contagious if she smiled, you would defiantly smile back.

And right on que Blakes skank of a girlfriend walks up and wraps her arms around his waist and her mouth connects to his with a little more tongue action than the whole gym needed to see.

Kyra gives them a disgusting look and turns away.

"You're still coming home with me today, right?" Kyra asks.

"Yeah, if that's cool with you" I say with a mouth full of gushers

"Really? You basically live there. You might as well take a room" she laughs.

Kelly Teachout: It was a good story. I just wish that there would have been more description of the characters as well as the settings. It could’ve also been a little bit longer little more backstory as well as bit more dialogue but overall is good story good plot.
