Summary

What you see here is a very dramatic oversell of what will hopefully become a nice, little collection or short stories. Only time will tell.

Volcan

When I first found out, I couldn't believe it. It seemed impossible and yet, it was true. When I found out my childhood best friend was behind the vicious murders of Fronsks trusted Defense Agency, it seemed completely unreal. Then I began to make the connections. He was in the capitol on a business trip the night the president's son spontaneously combusted. He owned the same caliber of handgun used to assassinate Charlie Mongo, son of the CEO of CiberTexh. And to top it all off he was crashing at my place the night my sister was kidnapped. That bastard was hiding under my nose, and I finally smelled the rat. I grabbed my keys off of the counter as I made a beeline for the front door. I didn't have any time to waste, because Alphax would be leaving on his private jet in an hour. I wasn't about to let that monster get away again. In hindsight, I should have just opened the front door normally. Those hinges are gonna be a pain to replace, but I didn't have time to think about that. I clambered into the front seat of my x37 biplane. It wasn't the most practical ride in the world but the four flak cannons made it worth the extra gas cost, and it would fit perfectly for knocking a bird out of the sky. I grabbed the heating rod and sent a large pulse of red energy from my hand into the engine, igniting the combustible fuel and kickstarting the rotor. And mom always said I would only be good for destruction. I sure showed her, huh? Haha!

After an unnecessary, adrenaline-filled twenty minutes I finally came into eyeshot of the airport. That's when I saw him. Of course, he knew I'd be coming. Alphax was careening toward me at breakneck speed, igniting flares around his feet to propel himself forward. He had always been a step ahead. Well, it was about time I took a step on his head! I crossed my fingers and prayed to the great flame that my newest invention would work. I, unfortunately, hadn't had time to test this device, what with the whole murderer best friend ordeal. It looked like I was jumping into this one blind, literally. I flipped a big red switch to active the x37's autopilot, aiming right for Alphax's jet idle on the runway. After confirming the trajectory I elbowed a comically large red button. It's always good to make buttons bigger so you don't miss them. After a final moment of prayer that seemed to last for far too long, I heard a click that sent a wave of relief followed by sheer panic flooding into my system. My invention had worked perfectly, and now I was being flung through the air in the direction of a human missile with my name on it. I used my fresh surge of adrenaline to ignite a ravenous flame that engulfed my body. I felt my skin melt away, replacing itself with a combination of blazing plasma and half-molten stone. I vowed so many years ago that I wouldn't use my volcan form until I learned how to control it, but that's the thing about vows. They break.
