"With the review "Keith" gave, I believe there are more in-depth reasons motivating his review. I don't write housewife porn; to satisfy "Keith" or anyone else. My stories are straight from imagination with no BS to clutter the aim. He apparently desires a story with boring and useless detail which is so aggravating to a reader having, at least, common imagination. I will tell "Keith; If you have nothing good to say try saying nothing at all. If "Keith" doesn't like the story, MAN FROM RUTABAGA CREEK, I suggest he avoids anything written by me in the future. Folks, there's one in every crowd! Sometimes there are two or three."

"I was drawn to this story because I always used to enjoy Westerns as a youth. SHANE by Jack Shaeffer. was a favorite. Unfortunately "The Man from Rutabega Creek" is no SHANE. The writing style and grammatical quality is substandard. But the most evident shortcoming is lack of a unifying plot. There is no dramatic tension unifying the story, no "how will this uncertain issue turn out?" keeping you wanting to turn to the next page. It was as if the author was uncomfortable with a sustained dramatic tension. Most of the time any dramatic tension that arose was resolved by the end of the rather short chapter. The romance of the story was spoiled the moment it was raised. There was no "Are they going to get together?" . Only near the end did there arise somewhat of an intriguing issue in relation to UFO's and aliens, but even this was a ripoff of ET (short, cute little peaceful aliens) and MEN IN BLACK (memories of the aliens erased.) In short, while I always feel an obligation to finish reading a book I start, with "The Man from Rutabega Creek", doing so was a laborious chore."

"As a diary or journal this is well written, but it lacks intrigue, humour or we'll thought out turns of phrase. The characters lacked flavour an frankly were bland. I gave up halfway through from sheer boredom. "
