Chapter 1

On the outskirts of California is a girl named Jade speeding in her brand new convertible car. Jade has just acquired her brand new car from her parents after A on a big exam. For Jade getting an A on that exam was a breeze though with her always getting an A on every test she takes. Along with Jade is her friend Summer who she brought to help out with her retake of the same exam that Jade took but failed. Jade promised to help out Summer with her retake exam after she shows off her new car.

Summer says to Jade look up ahead there is a split path for the rocky desert and the city, Jade in an overly confident voice acknowledges this and says to Summer she remembers perfectly from memory that it’s the right side she needs to take. Jade with her arrogant smirk turns to the right showing off to Summer she was right again. But that’s when the road starts to get all bumpy and shaky. Now realizing that they are on the wrong side of the road Jade tries to turn her car to get back from where they came from but it’s already too late when they hear a loud popping noise swiveling uncontrollably.

Jade stomps on her brake pedal stopping the car before they could crash into anything. Both of the girls get out to see what happened and sure enough Jade’s car popped a tire from the rocky road. Jade is freaking out right now about this unfortunate event but Summer rensures to Jade that everything will be ok. Summer then says to Jade that go get the spare tire and Jade can easily replace the popped tire because her dad taught her how to in a situation like this. Jade, now feeling more calm about hearing this good news.

Summer asks where Jade’s spare tire is and Jade says it is in her trunk. Summer goes to check the trunk of the car but sees a giant empty space tire would go. Summer starts questioning where on earth the spare tire is? Jade remembers now that she removed it so that she could have a bit more extra speed because that spare tire was slowing her down. Summer, now getting riled up over this, quickly clams herself down now with her saying maybe try using their phones to call a tow truck to help them out.

Jade thinks that is a great idea but when trying to call for help both of their phones show no signal. This is now when Summer starts castrasting for the decision? Jade says that she knew she would be a good driver and feel like she didn’t even need the extra tire at all. Jade now regrets doing this now and both are at a loss on what to do now?

The two girls are now with no way to get back home and are reduced to hitchhiking to gain help in order to make it back home. But Jade is the one mostly doing this work because Summer is just in the car still studying for her retake exam. Jade is begging for Summer to come out and help take over for herself so she can rest. But Summer needs to focus on trying to work on her retake exam so she can pass this time. Jade says she knows everything there is to the test and she can just teach everything to Summer herself.

Summer responds with.

“Oh like how you knew which side of the road to turn into? And got us stranded here right?”

Jade with a twitch in her eye starts to give Summer a death stare.

Jade responds with.

“Maybe the reason why she failed the test was becsue how she really did not take anything serious at all and becsue that exam was stupid easy!.”

Summer slamming her book close and ask’s Jade.

“So? Are you calling me stupid?”

Jade responds with.

“Maybe I’m or maybe I’m not? But either way it’s better to do nothing stranded in this desert!”

Summer then goes up and close to Jade and says to her.

“Well I don’t really care how smart you were able to remember text from a textbook, you were the one who did not think to bring a spare tire in case of this emergency!”

Jade Furious right now with a red face is not taking any of Summer’s Criticism at all. Jade sees herself as a brilliant person and will not stand for this. So both Jade and Summer go off and walk off from one another in frustration.

While walking away from one another Summer starts to see a car up ahead and begins waving to get its attention. Summer then tells Jade the news but Jade, still being angry at summer, is simply ignoring Jade as she keeps on walking away from summer. But while not paying any attention to where she is walking Jade falls down by a ledge accidentally, Summer sees this and asks if Jade is ok? Jade says yes but she can’t move right now and think she sprained her ankle. Jade then starts to hear a rattling noise. Jade turns her head to see what is making that noise and sees it’s a rattlesnake.

Jade is frightened beyond all belief and starts screaming. Summer asks what is going on? Jade shouts to Summer saying it’s a snake and she can’t get away from the snake. Summer is now conflicted by what to do now. Does she keep waiting for the Truck to stop and pick her and Jade up with a chance of Jade getting bitten by the rattlesnake? Or does she save Jade from the rattlesnake but still having trouble in getting a ride home. Summer is in a step dilemma with no clear answer in front of her. The rattlesnake is inching ever so closer and closer to Jade and has a look in its eye ready to strike any time. The only thing Jade can do right now is just scream in fear over and over.

But Summer sliding down on the rocks comes to Jade’s assistants. Summer quickly covers Jade’s mouth to keep her from making any more noise. Summer quietly tells Jade to be silent because rattlesnakes do not like to be around people and are threatened by them. Jade in her panic state is still worried but will comply with Summer and starts to calm down. Jade starts to slowly pick up Summer as they slowly start to move back. Soon enough the rattlesnake starts to go away with Summer being right as the rattle snake does not like humans.

Summer gets Jade back to their car and sets her down to take a look at Jade’s sprained ankle. After examining it Summer knows what she must do is to take off her overshirt and tear it up into strips and begin to wrap it around Jade’s Ankle to ensure the swelling will go down.

Jade sees Summer’s act of kindness and ask’s Summer why did she still do all of this even if she called her stupid? Summer replied because it would have been worse from the rattlesnake’s position. Rattlesnakes bites are one of the worst types of bites in the world and if she did not act soon enough Jade would be in worse condition then she would have had to realize. Jade is also shocked by all of this stuff like standing up to the rattlesnake and knowing how to save her. Summer says her dad taught her all of this stuff because they go camping a lot and he taught her lessons better suited in case of real life emergencies and not just remembering stuff from a text book that you may probably forget six months when highschool ends.

Jade, seeing all of this now properly apologizes to Summer and realizes that maybe being the smartest on an exam does not automatically mean you are superior to someone. Summer accepts Jade’s apology and shake each other’s hands forgiving one another. But that still leaves the problem of still having no way to get back home. The car Summer was waving passed her to rescue Jade. So now they need to just keep waiting. In the meantime Jade tells Summe to get her text book and teaches her on what to do for her retake exam.

The Sun starts to fall in the afternoon and after some time another car starts to come up. Summer is the one waving and jumping to get the Driver’s attention who luckily would also happen to be a tow truck. Summer explains the situation to the tow truck driver and soon enough he promised to help the two girls out. After getting Jade’s car to his tow truck as he drives back to the city with both girls resting on each other’s shoulders.
