Chapter 1
Blair's POV.
I sat in my bed, still tucked in the blanket, staring at my wedding ring and rubbing it with my finger as I thought of my miserable married life. I looked at the wall clock and saw the time; 07:46am. I sighed as I realized that he's not back yet. He left the house for two days now and hasn't come home, and it's not like he's out of town. I sighed again remembering that it's a usual habit of his. He hardly spends the night with me. He hardly comes home and even if he does, he hardly spends the night in our bedroom with me, most of the time he sleeps in his study.
I'm an orphan. I never got to meet my mother, she died while giving birth to me. And my father, the only person I had in the world left me when I was nine years old. I lost him to an industrial accident. An accident I witnessed that has now become a traumatic experience to me. There was a big fire outbreak in the factory he worked, and he died with a few of his colleagues. I had no relatives, well, I don't even know if I have any. Knowing that my fate was sealed, I admitted myself into an orphanage so that I could at least get food, shelter, and education. No one adopted me. Well, it's not like no one wanted to adopt me, I refused to get adopted. At the age of 17, the nun of the orphanage got frustrated of me and freed me. I did all sorts of jobs, doing four part-time jobs at a time just to get a life for myself. Luckily, I had no problem with men. Though I'm beautiful but no one knew because I never made myself attractive, I have a horrible sense of fashion. Well, I did that deliberately to scare men away from me. I already have a messed up life so the last thing I wanted was problems. I worked and rented an apartment and after that went to college while still working. I graduated from college with a first class in business administration which I don't even know how it happened because I hardly read. There was no time for me to read because after classes, I do my part-time jobs.
After I graduated from college, I tried to work in companies with my certificate. But after comparing their pay with the pay I get from my part-time jobs, I decided to continue with my part-time jobs because I needed money to settle my bills. My miserable life continued this way until one day, while checking the internet, I saw a job vacancy notice in B-World Entertainment. I decided to try even though I knew I wouldn't get a chance. B-World Entertainment is a topnotch company everyone in New York City and abroad wants to work. Even the rich wants to be there.
Fortunately, I got a job there to be the secretary of none other than Ivan Blake, the CEO. He's the best actor in Hollywood and every woman's dream. I also had a crush on him too, and I am his big fan. Being his secretary, I had the chance to meet him frequently. Any day he's not on set, he comes to the company and that was really a big blessing to me and good lord, my salary was huge. My one-month salary was enough to settle all my bills and I would still have extra cash with me. I worked there for a year and a half. Then my whole life changed one day. Ivan needed to strike a very important deal, and he needed to be married before he could get it and the marriage has to be real, nothing like contract. Being his secretary, he explained everything to me and asked if I would agree to marry him. Like Holy God, Ivan Blake wants me to marry him? I agreed straight away well because I'm in love with him. We went to the marriage registry and had a quiet wedding and my life has since that day become a bigger mess. Fortunately for me, my mother-in-law and father-in-law loves me so much like their daughter. They are constantly on my side and even love me more than their son who is making my life a living hell. It's not like he maltreats me, he doesn't. I have everything I need and more. But he has never played the role of a good husband. No one knows he's married except his parents, personal assistant and the workers in the house. I don't go out, it's not as if I can't, or I'm not allowed to, I just don't. After marriage, Ivan made me resign from the company, and I'm always at home, whenever I'm too bored, I go spend time with his parents. I'm 22 years old, I'll be turning 23 this year and my husband, he's 24, he'll be turning 25 this year.
So I'm Blair Sydney who is now Blair Blake because I'm married to Ivan Blake and this is my story.
Suddenly, the door opened, and my husband walked in. I quickly got out of bed and rushed to him. I collected his briefcase and helped him take off his jacket which he didn't object to, well, he never does.
“Good morning.” I said to him.
“Morning.” He replied and just like that, he went into the bathroom. Soon, he was out in a pair of shorts, drying his blonde hair with a towel. He walked to the table and turned on the dryer and began to dry his hair with it and I just couldn't stop staring. This guy Is hot! He's tall, has a broad back and broad shoulders. He has a well-groomed muscles and abs. He has a blonde hair, well carved eyebrows, golden eyes, a pointed nose, a well carved face and the sexiest pink lips I've ever seen. He's very fair in complexion, but I'm fairer than him.
“Why are you standing there like that?” His deep voice rang me out of my thoughts. Even his voice is sexy. Well, he's the direct opposite of me. His voice is deep while mine is tiny. He's an extrovert while I'm a messed up introvert. I simply smiled at him and tried to do something, but my brain wasn't processing any other thing than questioning him which I know we'll definitely quarrel if I ask him those questions.
“Why didn't you come home last night? You haven't been home for two nights now.” I said, and he didn't even attempt to reply and just continued what he was doing.
“Ivan, why do you keep doing this? We're a married couple.” I said to him, almost crying. Yep, I'm a very emotional idiot who cries easily.
“We're not having this discussion again, B.” He said and just like that he walked out of the bedroom and I know exactly where he's going. He's going into his study.
“B” is the pet name he gave me, and that's what he calls me all the time. He calls me “Blair” occasionally and that's on serious matters.
I sighed and went into the bathroom to take a bath. After taking a bath, I looked at myself in the standing mirror in the bathroom. I have a long blonde hair, yep, we're both blondes. I have an oval face, well carved eyebrows and long eyelashes which you would mistake to be artificial ones if you don't look really closely. I have big ocean blue eyes, pointed nose and small red lips. I'm beautiful with an hour glass shape, but even my husband doesn't know about my shape because he hasn't seen my body before. I'm married, but I'm a virgin. My husband hasn't touched me for once. We only kissed once on our wedding day and never again since then.
I sighed and went out of the bathroom. I opened my gigantic wardrobes filled with expensive unattractive clothes which I shopped intentionally. Well, even though I'm married, my husband doesn't seem interested in me, so there's no need dressing up. Like seriously, for whom am I dressing up for.
I picked out one dress and put it on, combed my hair and styled it into my usual hairstyle, a ponytail, and bangs and I went out of the bedroom. A maid walked to me and bowed. No matter how many times I tell them not to bow, they never listen.
“Good morning, madam.” She said.
“Good morning.” I said with a smile.
“Breakfast is ready, madam.” She said.
“Okay, thank you.” I said to her and she bowed and left.
I sighed as I decided to go to Ivan's study to call him for breakfast. It's not that he's scary or will chase me out, but our married life isn't what anyone would hope for. It's just so messed up.
