Prologue - Tu l’as bien cherché
J’avais onze ans quand j’ai vu mon premier mort.
Pas dans un film. Pas sur un écran. En vrai.
L’homme a eu deux tressaillements avant de s’immobiliser. Ses yeux ne se sont pas fermés. Personne n’a cherché de linceul.
C’est là que j’ai compris une chose. Dans certaines familles, la mort n’est pas la fin. C’est l’initiation.
Ils se faisaient appeler les Men of Iron. Ils le disaient comme une prière. Ils le portaient comme une seconde peau.
Certains saignaient pour ça. D’autres tuaient pour ça. Certains aimaient comme on fait la guerre, et d’autres aimaient comme on cherche le salut.
Je les observais tous. Depuis un coin de la pièce ou un couloir. Je les épiais sous la table, là où personne ne regardait.
J’ai découvert le pouvoir par petits bouts. Le poids d’un kutte. Le silence dans le Furnace. La façon dont on mesurait la douleur. Pas au cri qu’on poussait, mais au temps qu’on passait sans hurler.
À l’époque, ils ne me voyaient pas. Pas vraiment.
C’était la première leçon.
La deuxième ?
On ne naît pas toujours monstre. Parfois, on le devient. Morceau par morceau. Mot après mot. On est façonné par ceux qui nous tiennent la main. Par ceux qui jurent nous sauver. Par ceux qui nous apprennent à survivre à leur façon d’aimer.
Et parfois... Parfois, ils ne savent même pas ce qu’ils ont créé. Ils s'en rendent compte quand il est trop tard.
Ceci n’est pas une histoire de méchants. C’est une histoire de sang. De feu. C’est l’histoire de la famille que l’on bâtit sur les cendres.
Je me souviens de tout. Même des moments que j'aimerais oublier.

I just finished reading your story The Dark Princess and I loved it so much. Your writing is amazing, and I kept thinking how cool it would look as a comic.
I really loved the scene in Chapter 3 where the princess discovers her dark powers for the first time the mix of fear and awe you described is so vivid. It is ideal for making a comic because the visuals of her transformation and the contrasting light and shadow would look stunning. Also, the intense confrontation in Chapter 7 between the princess and the mysterious stranger would make for a dramatic, action-packed comic panel.
I’m a commissioned artist, and I’d love to draw your story into a comic/manga. No pressure though, I just think your work would look awesome in comic form.

I seen this series when I was researching for another book ( I see a book advertised I go looking for the true author) and it catch my attention and after reading this. oh I am ready to get started. I don’t think I have read anything you have written so here is to the ride I hopped on so as the saying goes let me buckle and get ready.
