Prologue
Estrelle Arki was a mere hour away from giving birth to twins when the camp horns began blaring. She was in a tent with the father of her children just outside. Lunoir Arki peeked inside the tent, electricity already blazing in his eyes, making his cool eyes shine.
“Of course.” Lunoir growled.
“Get back out there!” Elwyn yelled as Estrelle clamped down on the other woman’s hand as another contraction hit.
Estrelle’s screams filled the air as Lunoir raced out of the room, long, white hair bouncing as he ran towards the commotion on the north side of the camp. He was still in his full armor from their last battle and had barely had the time to heal from his wounds. When he got to the fight, he growled and unsheathed his sword, grabbing the nearest goblin and stabbing it straight through the head.
“Nice of you to join us!” A woman yelled. Her green pouf of hair came into view as a troll fell backwards, an arrow stuck up his nose. The woman frowned at the arrow. “I’m gonna leave that there. A swarm of goblins began charging for her and she took multiple arrows from her quiver and sent them flying with a wave of her hands, not even looking as they all hit home. “How’s the wife?”
A blue tinged man shoved past the green woman. “Seriously, honey, work on your timing.” The blue man bent down and put his hand to the ground, a green light coming from his palm before the ground exploded in vines, sending many goblins flying, where a blur in the sky swept by, turning them into red rain.
The blur landed and great brown wings unfolded to reveal a man. He rolled his eyes and took chains from his hip. There’s more on the way. He signed to Lunoir. We need to move, we will be outmatched this time.
“We can’t,” Lunoir said, making sure the winged man could read his lips. “Estrelle is still in labor, it’s too risky.”
The winged man rolled his eyes. Fine. Leave it to me and Animyg. With that, the blue man and the winged man both took off to the east, leaving Lunoir and the green woman.
“With any luck,” The green woman said, “Your child won’t have to go through this.”
Lunoir’s eyes began glowing blue as he brought his hands together, fingers splayed. “Animyg and Sginthias are gonna need our help.” His palms glowed the same hue as his hands and he pulled them apart, the air in front of him opened up, revealing the two men fighting an oncoming horde of goblins and trolls. A single, dark-skinned elf sat atop one of the troll’s shoulders. “May the gods find favor with me, protecting my child.” With one final look towards Estrelle’s tent, Lunoir and the green woman entered the portal.
