Summary

Two young children must learn to survive in a family that has been torn apart, through no fault of their own. They each find their own way to deal with their parents separating and their father figure not being part of their regular lives anymore, although they are still in contact with him. The young boy struggles to cope at school, but finds help in the form of a magical genie, Max. Max helps him realise that he can find a way out of his predicament, and even rely on his own skills and abilities to rise above some troubles. The young girl refuses to stop believing that someday, somehow, their family can become a solid unit again. With the help of her own guardian angel, Olivia, she discovers things can work out for the best, even if ‘the best’ isn’t exactly what she initially prayed for. An accident leaves the entire family praying for a miracle, however that miracle may occur. Despite their differences, they all come together for a common cause … their love for a special little person. Whether the family get back together or not is left open for interpretation by the reader. Rather, the point of the story is about what’s important, and what can be achieved, if we never stop believing.

A freak work accident had torn this close-knit family apart, and the impact this was having on each of them was becoming abundantly clear.
