Summary

Klara Elmsworth, a talented young magus with a haunting past, is entrusted with a secret by her dying mother. Struggling with her aversion to elves, Klara's resolve is further tested when she must team up with an elven Adept and heed the guidance of Araellor, a protective elven hunter, who teases her relentlessly. Matters become even more complicated when she finds herself romantically drawn to him. Together, they venture into The Nexus on the frigid island of Coldarra, seeking a possible cure for the Scourge-the plague that led to the tragic purging of Klara's hometown, Stratholme. Despite the war heading to its climax, Klara is determined to find out if the scrolls she's discovered indeed hold the cure and the promise of a Scourge-free future. But unexpectedly, they also reveal a chilling prophecy-the return of Arthas, the Lich King. To succeed in ensuring the prophecy does not come to light and to determine if a cure is possible, Klara must confront the dilemma rooted in her mother's secret.
