Chapter 1 the neckless
Maddy Hatter. Yep, can't believe it either. That's the name on my birth certificate. I keep asking my parents why they named me that but they brush it off and change the subject. Sometimes I think they named me Maddy Hatter after the guy from Alice and Wonderland. I walk into the kitchen wearing my white t-shirt and green pajamas my brown skin sweating as I see my mom her eyes black as her soul, her hair brown and long that goes to her waist, she grabs her ¨orange juice¨ my dad uses I'm not stupid one time my mom was drunk and told me that it was alcohol even wanting to get me to drink it when my mom is drunk she can be an asshole but sometimes she can just tell you to go and you knew that she was in her good mood "hey mom" I fidgeted my brown short curly hair was scared hoping she wasn't
drunk again she drinks alcohol so much that I can't even tell if she's drunk ¨Maddy I wanna talk to you¨ ok she wasn't drunk thank God.
I walked slowly ¨Is this a trick? Is she gonna hit me or maybe call me a disappointment? I'm grateful she only talks like that to me when she's drunk ¨ she grabbed two necklaces from the cabinet. One of them had a flower on the back and a picture of a woman on the front who looked like my mom, only a little older. That’s your grandma. This necklace has been in our family for a while and someday it's gonna belong to you ̈. The other necklace had a heart with two on it written in bold letters. "So it's mine¨ I said ¨no not yet you haven't mastered your powers".
Oh yes, my powers although for some reason my mom and dad didn't have any powers because they aren't close to mother nature. I read in one of the books in our basement, that it only happens to a family who's been in this life since the beginning when the earth was created. All the kids have one power but for some reason, I have multiple powers. There are some things I can´t do with them like I can turn invisible but if I touch you and turn invisible you won´t turn invisible with me.
