Chapter 1

I remember going to bed that night, brushing my teeth, putting my pjs on, and tucking myself in to bed.

When I woke up the next morning. I was NOT in my bed, in my house, or on my street.

I was laying on the doorstep of a random house, with nothing but my clothes, and my old flimsey grey donkey I’ve had since I was 2.

I sat up, looking around.

With a huff, I stood.

I knocked on the door in front of me, and waited.

A few minutes later, a chubbie man came out with a attitude.

“Good greatness, it’s seven at night on a Saturday, what?” He growled, his accent British.

“Where are we?” I asked, standing tall.

“Where do you think, London.” He said.

“Birman, who is that?” A woman’s voice asked.

“Just some girl, Patunia.” He called.

A woman with dark brown hair, and sharp eyes stood by the man.

“Morning miss.” I said, smiling softly.

“Where are your parents?” She asked.

“I don’t know? Last I remember was going to bed last night in America.” I said.

“Come in. We’ll figure this out.” She said, opening the door. With a grumble the pair led me inside.

“Harry, git me a pair of your clothes.” The woman called. A young boy about my age came down the stairs, holding a pair of clothes.

“Hello.” He said, flashing a charming smile at me.

“Hey.” I replied, takeing the clothes from him.

“Take her upstairs, so she can change, Harry. we’re gonna make some calls.” The man said.

“Okay.” The boy said, and turned, walking up the stairs. When we reached his room, and where inside, I was taken back by the view. He had a messy bed, and a messy desk. On his desk was a quil, several notebooks, and books, and a stick. He had a owl in the corner of his room, and several posters of “Griffindor” written on em.

“My names Harry.” He said out of the blue.

“Red Smith.” I said, flashing one of my quirkiest smiles.

“Cool, sorry for the mess, I wasn’t really expecting company to come up here.” He said shyly.

“Dude, it’s totaly fine, my room at home is way worse. Trust me. Cool owl by the way. Where I’m from, it’s like, illegal to have one of thoes.” I said, smiling softly.

“Really? Where are you from?”

“America.”

“Is it cool there?”

“I gusss, lots of heat where I’m from.”

“Really?”

“Yep, what about here? What’s the temp here?”

“Chilly.” He said, sighing.

“Really? Eww!” I said.

“Eww?”

“I’m not a cold person, I am a warm person.”

“I can tell.” He said smiling at my tan.

“Haha, Harry.” I said, mock hurt.

“Who is she?” A voice asked from the doorway.

Harry and I turned.

It was a pudgy boy, with brown hair, and spoiled eyes.

“My name’s Red Smith. What’s yours?” I asked, trying to be polite.

“Dudley.” He said, eyeing me.

“Got yourself a girlfriend, Harry?” He said to Harry, mockingly.

“Excuse me? I barely know him!” I snapped.

“Yea, Dudley, she’s just lost.” Harry said.

The doorbell rang. The room was dropped into eerie silence.

“She’s here, boys come on down!” The man yelled. Harry grabbed a sheet of paper on his desk. And went out with Dudley, and shut the door behind him.

I took the opportunity to change, and fold my baby blue, with black bold lettering saying “if you read this, you’re too close. Back up,” and left the clothes on the edge of Harry’s bed, and went downstairs.

A very fat woman, and her dog were in the den, messing around with Dudley, who started watching tv.

“Ah, your still here, are you?” She said to Harry when she realized he was standing at the doorway.

“Yes.” Harry said.

“Don’t say Yes in that ungrateful manner. It’s good of my brother to take you. If it’ be left on my doorstep, it’d be straight to the orfanage.” She said to both Harry, and the man.

Harry was quiet.

“Who are you?” She asked me, when she realized I was standing beside Harry.

“No one, Marge, just a lost girl who was on our step this morning.” The man said quickly.

“See, my brother is Verry good.” She said mostly to herself.

“Harry, go take her stuff upstairs.” The woman said.

“Okay.” Harry said, grabbing the luggage at the door. I followed him, grabbing the woman’s other luggage.

“What are you doing?” He asked when he realized what I was doing.

“Helping you.” I said.

“Why?”

“Why not? I don’t want to be in there, that woman scares me.” I said, pulling the luggage up another step.

He laughed gently.

“That’s my aunt. She hates me.” He said.

“So does your parents, by the looks of it.” I said.

Harry was quiet.

“My parents are dead. They are my aunt and uncle.”

“Oh my god! I’m so sorry, I diddnt know!” I said quickly.

“It’s fine, you diddnt know.”

“You wanna hide out in my room till dinner?” He asked.

“Please!” I said quickly.

He smiled.

We took the fat woman’s luggage to the spare bedroom, and rushed to Harry’s room, quickly, and hid there till dinner.
