All I felt was fire. Fire eating away at me. Then the migraine that refused to leave. Then came the numbness. Then, the poking, constant and annoying.
“It’s a girl, human and normal. Will you please stop poking her!” A voice came proding from the darkness. The poking stopped immediately. The voice sighed. ”Let’s get her out of there.”
“What if she’s poisonous?” A small voice asked.
“She’s not poisonous, now get in there, and help her up!”
“But I just cleaned this shirt!”
“And you can clean it again. Get in there NOW!”
“No touch.” I groaned, forcing a singular eye open. There were many dark figures standing around me, all holding spears.
“Leif! Bring us the water!” One turned to yell somewhere into the distance, then jumped down to kneel beside me, pulling two other boys in with him.
“How are ya feeling?” He asked, his brown eyes draping over my face.
“Like crap.” I blinked. Why could I only blink?
“Yeah? We’ll get you out of the pit soon enough, just bear with us.” He wrapped his arms around me, giving his other two buddies some space to grab onto me as well. When they did, I screamed. Something was wrong! My skin wasn’t supposed to feel like it was about to fall from my bones!
“What’s wrong with her?” One of the boys standing along the edge above us asked.
None of us could respond, just did their best on dragging me out of the hole in the dirt as gently as they (hopefully) could. One of the boys with vibrant green eyes stepped into the ring of boys and knelt beside me, putting a bowl of water to my mouth, tilting it back as I gulped as much as I could down.
“The raked messed you up pretty good, diddnt they!” His voice was kind, and cheerful.
“You think it was a raked?” The leader boy asked, his hand shying away from my back slowly, and trailed gently over a patch of skin that hurt a proticular amount more.
“Yeah. Do you see how her skin is all purple and bruised?” The boy with green eyes sighed. “Come on, help her into the med shed, see what she knows.”
