Chapter 1

Long ago...

They told me to close my eyes and count to 100.

I waited even after I got way past 100 and no other sounds but the crickets were heard.

I still haven’t found them.

“Jimin?” I felt a hand tap my shoulder. In response I hummed trying to wake from my hazy dream.

“The bell rang, class is over.” I heard them say, to which I sat up, blinking my eyes rapidly. I noticed that me and Hoseok were the only two left here “What period do we have next?” I asked as I stretched and yawned, feeling my bones click.

“Your least favourite, English.” Hobi said as he let out a light chuckle. I let out a heavy breath of annoyance as I stood from my seat and threw my bag over my shoulder. “Another class to sleep through then.” I muttered as I followed Hobi out of the classroom.

I ran my hand through my hair as I noticed the empty hall ways “you could have left me and avoided lunch time detention.” I said as I shoved my hand into my pocket.

“Nah, I gotta look out for my best friend.” He replied and threw his arm around me.

“And since i’m so caring for you, can you please tell me how you manage to get all the answers right despite sleeping through all the classes?” Hoseok asked as he pinched my cheek gently.

I giggled “even if I told you, you’d never get it.” I replied.

You don’t want this Hobi...

He pouted in response and luckily we reached the classroom we were meant to be in, I immediately tapped on the door and opened it. I saw by the teacher’s face, she was not happy as she frowned at both of us.

We took our seats after a small lecture at the front of the class - bit embarrassing. I didn’t care much though, they already dislike me.

While the teacher spoke at the front, I stared out the dusty window. The tall tree’s hovered over the school, I liked to imagine they were guards, planted there to watch over me.

But reality always comes as slap in the face.

“Jimin!” The teacher said with her voice slightly raised.

I turned my head to her and forced a smile “yes miss?” I asked.

“Please repeat what I was talking about, it’s important for your exams.” She said with a smirk.

I stared into her eyes “well, you went into detail about Macbeth’s ambition and how it allowed his wife to easily test his loyalty to King Duncan. Therefore it was a key theme in the play.” I said and her face dropped to a confused look.

She cleared her throat “uhm, well, very good.” She mumbled and continued talking to the whole class.

I knew too much, I knew everything.

Jackson, who sat in front of me, was secretly sleeping with our gym coach. Rose, who was currently at home sick, went to a party without her parents permission. Hyunmin, who was the class president, was also sleeping with our gym coach.

How do I know this?

Oh it’s simple, I just read their minds.

And apparently, i’m the only one who can do this. Although, I knew of one big secret, shared by many students here.

Werewolves, they were fucking werewolves. I freaked out when I first read the mind of one. I avoided them at all costs, scared of them and what they were capable of.

But now, they don’t bother me much. They all kept their secret hidden during school time so I didn’t mind mixing with them.

Hell, I was even best friends with one.

I looked over at Hobi, he was fully immersed into the subject, his foot tapping on the floor as he wrote notes down. He would never tell me about his secret, he was scared...

And the Alpha would probably crush his skull if he did so.

This is why I am not angry with him, if I was to be angry with him about something, it would be the fact that he’s had a crush on me for months.

But still, I don’t blame him, i’m gorgeous.

I sat back in my seat and folded my arms, feeling tired again. I guess this is what happens when you don’t sleep all night, having powers isn’t a walk in the park.

I do have other abilities but let’s save them for another time.

I’ve heard whispers but they’re in a language I cannot understand yet sounds so familiar. It’s frustrating but there is no one I can turn to for help, not even the werewolves. They’d get spooked the moment I told them I knew and then I would be brutally killed by the Alpha.

This Alpha doesn’t sound that nice now does he... let’s avoid him.

I rested my head in my hand as my eye lids flickered shut for a moment, feeling the heaviness of them.

The same routine happened, I felt the taps on my shoulder again with Hobi telling me the class has ended. I don’t even remember falling asleep.

I stood from my desk and gave Hoseok a gentle smile “is the day over yet?” I whined.

Hoseok laughed “the teacher let us off for the lunch time detention so after lunch, we just have history left.” He said with a happy look. Despite being concentrated on his studies, he still loved the end of the day just as much as I did.

“Well let’s go.” I said and with that we took off towards the cafeteria. I always loved to have fish and chips or the spaghetti while Hoseok always went for the meat... wonder why 👀

We paid for our food and took a seat in our usual spot, joking about our miserable lives. We brightened each other’s day though.

“Ohhh, look, look.” Hoseok said as he rapidly tapped my arm. I looked in the direction he was looking and spotted the swim team visiting from another school. “They’ve got no chance against Minho, he’s the fastest swimmer i’ve ever seen.” Hobi said referring to our school’s swim team captain.

I rolled my eyes, completely uninterested. “Who cares?” I said and watched how Hoseok’s mouth widened. I let out a little giggle “I guess you do.” I added but continued eating my food. “Why don’t you join the swim team?” I asked with a mouth full of food.

“There’s no point, i’m no good and they’re like professionals.” He answered with a defeated look, poking at his own food with his fork. “Oh.” I said.

I could look into his future to see if he does end up on the team but I promised myself to never use this power again. The future is dangerous and I sure as hell should not be responsible for someone else’s destiny.

The last time I used it, I saw someone’s death. Not a pretty sight.

The bell rang and floods of students began to leave the cafeteria with me and Hobi trailing behind. We were never in a rush.

We sat at the back of history, luckily it was a movie, meaning I can sleep peacefully. The movie will drown out the voices, some kind of equilibrium.

This was all ruined when the smell of arousal clouded the room, of course no humans smelled it but the werewolves and I could. I opened my eyes and saw Hoseok sniffing the air, he stopped however when he noticed my stare.

He just held his nose subtly instead.

I sat up straight, it must be someone in heat... a werewolf things. I looked at Hobi and heard he was thinking the same thing. The smell disappeared a moment later, meaning the omega must have sprayed scent blockers. I relaxed in my seat, relieved that I didn’t have to see multiple werewolves fight over an omega in heat. There would definitely be blood.

The day came to an end with Hoseok excitedly jumping next to me, I giggled at the weirdness he exhibits sometimes. I gave him a toothy smile “want to get ice cream hyung?” I asked but watched his happy face lessen a little.

“I can’t... not tonight. But tomorrow!” He said. It clicked in my head that tonight was the full moon so Hobi will be doing werewolf stuff. I nodded not questioning him as I already knew his reason.

“That’s okay hyung, i’ll go by myself today and we can go tomorrow.” I said still smiling. “I have to go now, but be safe on your own. Seeya!” He said while returning the wide smile. “Byeee!” I said and waved at him.

Guess it’s a good idea to stay in tonight...
