Summary

Sixteen-year-old Eddie Hughes has spent the last five years haunted by the memory of his best friend, Vikki Hanson, who was murdered by an otherworldly creature. People in his small Texas town don’t believe his story about the monster or Vikki’s death, so he’s kept it to himself. But when his friends drag him to a party at an abandoned orphanage, Eddie’s gut tells him something is wrong—like the feeling he had the day Vikki died. Determined to uncover the truth of what happened to her, Eddie refuses to let go of the belief that she’s still out there, despite the skepticism and dismissiveness of those around him. As he digs deeper into the mystery, he realizes that some truths are darker—and more dangerous—than he ever imagined.
