PROLOGUE

We lost.

I lost.

There was a shriek—then blood. Heat. The stench of smoke, of rotting and burning flesh.

I look outside the shattered window… and I can’t look away. My heart roars in my chest. I want to run, to fight—but I can’t. I’m shackled, betrayed by those I trusted most.

And now… my kingdom burns.

For the first time in centuries, Ignis is on fire. For the first time, peace—the peace of my kingdom so carefully forged by my ancestors—is broken. is gone.

A thousand years of protection, undone in a single night by a single move, a single choice.

I failed them.

The smoke thickens. the screams of my people won't stop. I can taste the death of my people, of my friends, in the air and it's breaking me, it's taking away whatever power i have.

After months of war, after all the battles we survived… it’s all crumbling. no it's burning in front of my eyes. i guess that's the punishment.

I try to scream. To call for my power. To beg the gods for an answer.

But no sound escapes.

Just silence.

And a single, warm tear sliding down my cheek.

I have nothing left. Outside, the shrieks grow louder. But inside this castle—inside my mind, my soul—there was only silence.

and then—

—A sound. there was a faint sound of something......not something, its a.....horn. a signal. but for what??

I look out the window again, and far off near the border, I see it— A shadow spreading like rot. fast. like the fae lice. and i know now that the horn is for the warning. the warning that she has come.

She has come.

And she has finally come to end my life. i turn around and my gaze land on the bed, there on it my baby is asleep. the baby who they took away from me when she was born my .my little flame. i move toward her with struggle.

Another tear escapes. because i know she will kill both of us , the shadow queen.

NO

No. No, I won’t let that happen.

i will not let her touch my babe...she'll have to kill me first. I reach the bed and lift my baby slowly, gently. She’s so small, so peaceful.

She doesn’t know that death is knocking on our door. i have to hide her somewhere.

I have to.

slowly i inch toward the door but with the heavy iron chain bound around my ankle and hands its getting difficult. so i start dragging my legs with the chain. Every step is the struggle, my breath is heavy but i reach it.

I open the door—

—and then something happens which i didn't expect. i thought i have more time but it look like that was just a lie, an illusion of time because now am staring in the eyes darker and deeper than a black hole and i know that it's the end.

she have finally reached me .

slowly the shadow queen lips lift up in menacing smile there is no warmth in her.

she is pure cold.

Her voice slithers into my ears, thick with poison.

“Hello, Fire Queen… or should I call you—”

and then darkness, everything went black.

A thud

something fall to the ground

and maybe that something is me.
