Chapter 1

Nobody is aware about Tejran Samapti except me. I happened to learn about it from my grandfather and it is a fascinating concept. When I was young, I used to urge my grandpa to tell me some good stories. During that time he was on his death bed and used to ramble about strange topics. In his delirium, he didn't care a lot about his surroundings and he used to go on blabbering about many strange topics, he was in a very sorrow state and my young mind was unable to comprehend his poor condition or his sickness. My parents had strictly advised me to stay away from him but my rebellious mind did otherwise. One night, when he was alone in his room and my parents were asleep, I secretly went to him and like usual I asked him to tell me some good stories, "Grandpa, Tell me a story?" I had asked innocently. The room was very dark, I could not see him clearly and I simply talked to his shadow. "Beta, you shouldn't be here...! The Yamadoots are standing behind you and they are going to drag me to hell!" he said weakly and I had sensed fear in his voice. "Grandpa! Grandpa, who are Yamadoots and what is hell?" I asked him naively while the old man sighed.

"Aarav, Yamadoots are the servants of Yama who is god of death, he judges people based on their actions. You can say he is like Santa Claus, if you stay a good boy throughout the year you receive gifts but if you're naughty he won't give you any gifts. For us adults, we are rewarded with heaven for being nice but if we are naughty and sinful throughout our lives, he would punish us in a place known as hell and these Yamadoots are going to take me there when I die!" my grandpa said with a trembling voice.

"Don't worry grandpa, tomorrow I will write a letter to Yama just like I wrote to Santa Claus and request him to not hurt you or punish you! I am sure he will listen to me!" I said with a bright smile on my face and then I remember turning around and was unable to see anything except darkness, yet I sincerely bowed and requested, "Dear Yamadoots, please don't hurt my grandpa...! Treat him with respect... He is a sick man... Please take care of him and if possible don't punish him!" I remember saying those words to the floor with my head bowed down and hoped that those invisible Yamadoots had heard me.
