CHASERUS THE LOST
Nora and Akatone sat by the warmth of the fireplace as thunder and blizzard snow raged across the palace’s windows of the Great Chamber.
All while Eden mixed Konzo Sugar into warm milk for the two children. Eden arrived to the silent children, offering them their drinks to which they gratefully took while Eden took her place on a padded chair. “Einedoeineor? Kaor yaorur toheinelo ursul a sultohorya? (Eden? Can you tell us a story?)” Nora asked softly, while Akatone also looked over his small shoulder to see the response of his elder cousin. Eden smiled at the two and sweetly nodded, the two of them had her heart and soul. “Aloweiayasul, loeinetoh’sul suleine heinereine. (Always, let’s see here.)” Eden pondered for a moment before landing on a story, Chaserus the Lost.
“Sulaya, havoheine yaorur vohortoh heineardo orful Kahasuleinerursul toheine Lorsultoh? (Say, have you both heard of Chaserus the Lost?)” Eden questioned and both the children pondered before shaking their heads. “Have you both been practicing your common tongue?” Eden questioned once more, and while Akatone nodded not long after the language switch, it took Nora a moment to nod as well. “Good, now this story is an eastern one. A Vitaian one, and the only place to start is in the beginning.”
VITA, ANNULOS 9TH, YEAR 1425
HOUSE TEMPEST
“Chaserus Tempest was the fourth born child of Marchioness Xitani Tempest and the God of the Seas, Ashura. Being a fourth born child the only thing Chaserus could do was get married to be with or bring in other powerful houses. But Chaserus did not want that, at the age of ten and seven Chaserus fled their home, however they took a very special type of armor with them. Feather armor, said to be made from the wings of griffins and angels. The armor gifted the user great speeds, being able to travel as fast as the God Zeriyos.” Nora and Akatone gave a small gasp and scooted closer to Eden. “With this armor at their disposal Chaserus gained an idea, one that made them much like our family. Feared among Gods and man.
Chaserus first traveled north, to Stalakana. It was there that they achieved Sunsteel, a burning material that when sharpened and honed can be turned into a burning blade. Chaserus had the Sunsteel forged into a blade and quickly headed southeast to the countries of Melataxy, Valigor, Elydoniya, Lyramyre, and Monidawn. It was there that Chaserus began to be more feared, for they obtained Dragon fabric. A fabric that cannot be burned, frozen, or even cut. But then Chaserus gained a dragon.” Nora gasped louder and Akatone’s eyes widened a bit. “A real doragor (dragon)? Like ones from the stories of the kaorquieinesultoh (conquest)? The ones that breath fulirereine (fire)?” Nora questioned quickly as her eyes lit up and Eden chuckled before nodding. “Yes those dragons. Chaserus’s new friend was known as Calasyrus or Calasyrus the Sky Eater, Calasyrus wingspan could block out the suns over grand cities like the City of Silver.” Nora stayed in awe while Akatone caught Eden with a question. “What did Calasyrus look like?”
“Calasyrus is said to be a white scaled dragon with blue spikes and a golden underside. His wings could block out the suns over vast cities and his fire was said to be a burning white that leveled army’s to the ground. It was later that Chaserus took Calasyrus and flew to Asimi.” Nora and Akatone jolted in surprise once more. “Chaserus was here? Like here in the City of Sulhadoweisul (Shadows)?” Nora questioned, curious is the younger. Eden chuckled, “No, the City of Shadows was not around in Old Asimi. But they did go to Castle Stellos in the City of the Night, our family's old seat of power. It was there that Chaserus met one of our ancestors Belladyne III, Belladyne asked what Chaserus sought. For whatever they desired they would have, in return that Chaserus left the country alone and leveled no city to the ground. Chaserus asked for Moonsteel, a metal only found in Asimi. Moonsteel was the only thing that could rival Sunsteel in power, having both those blades as well as Feather Armor, Dragon Fabric, and a dragon loyal to them made them a force to be reckoned with. Chaserus only had one thing left to gain, their String of Fate. On their dragon Chaserus landed in their final destination, Kenturi. It was here that Chaserus summoned the Fates and with a fierce battle Chaserus took their string and fled, having their sting meant that the Fates could no longer have the power to cut it. And Chaserus had it all, they were the strongest warrior in the Realms without question, but Chaserus aimed too high.” Eden’s voice lowered, like she was sad or rather the story had taken a turn. “What do you mean?” Akatone asked, his small voice barely above a whisper.
“Chaserus, mounted Calasyrus and together they aimed for the Realm Above The Heavens, Kahaorsul (Khaos).” Nora and Akatone’s faces contorted into confusion.
“Kahaorsul? I thought Chaserus was aiming to conquer the world like Epona Alacer.” Akatone said, to which Nora nodded along. “It was never the world Chaserus wanted, they were not after power. Chaserus was after knowledge, they had the unsatisfied desire to know it all. However, when Chaserus arrived it was said they saw something impossible.” Nora tilted her head the opposite way from Akatone, “What did they suleine (see)?” “In the Vitaian version of the story it was said Chaserus saw a flaming rage in the eyes of Khaos that burned their very soul. However in the Asimian version, Chaserus saw fear. Khaos feared them, but yet still they met in battle. And that’s the end.” Eden concluded but somehow seemed to make the two children more upset than the blizzard that stopped them from playing in the snow. “Or! (No!)” Nora exclaimed in a small voice as she crossed her arms and pouted. “Is that actually the end?” Akatone asked, his voice down. Sighing Eden bent down and one by one she picked up her younger cousins and put them on her lap. “Truly I tell you both, this story does not have an ending. For there are many versions of the way it ended.” Eden explained, and while Nora still pouted Akatone wanted an ending. “Then what’s the Asimian version?” Eden chuckled and mentally commended her younger cousin and his ambition for knowledge. “It is said the Khaos could not defeat them, and in this knowledge Khaos stripped Chaserus of their memories and sent them away. No one besides Khaos knows what truly happened to Chaserus, but we do not believe he died in that battle.” Eden said, and her younger cousins now looked satisfied.
