Chapter 1: Following in the footsteps of a God.
God was a lonely man. He would sit and watch as humans would go about their lives, committing sin after sin.
God was tired, like he always has been. But after being God for basically all of eternity, he needed someone to take his place. someone who would fit his role perfectly.
Of course, the head of angels wouldn't like that, but he didn't care.
God would sigh, his big singular eye blinking slowly as he looked down into the portal into the human would.
Boring.
Boring is the only word he could use to describe how this job was. He absolutely hated how humans would spend their days, disobeying him and his orders.
There's a Bible for a reason, so people can follow his rules and what he sees fit. Anyone that doesn't fit within the boxes he's made is to be
Eliminated, executed, killed!
God laughed at the thought. He never fully went through with his plan, but when someone else takes his position over, he can put his plans into full swing.
God is suddenly interrupted from his thoughts as the door to the throne room is opened.
" Sir, Gabriel, is here to see you. " The angel steps aside, letting Gabriel through. He nods before looking up at God.
God looks up, his eye cruves upwards, like he's smiling. Except he doesn't have an actual face. It's just an eye. He let's out a content hum.
" Ah, there you are, Gabriel. " His voice is erie but also calming at the same time.
He stands up from his throne, floating over to Gabriel. " Now, come along. I want to show you something." He gives him a wink.
Floating down one of the hallways, there's multiple paintings of historical events that have happened on Earth. Gabriel looks closely at every single one of them, not missing a single detail.
God notices this and hums. " Ah, you like the paintings? Lovely, aren't they? " He tilts his head. Waiting for Gabriel to speak.
Gabriel jumps slightly, his focus regaining as he stops looking at the paintings. He clears his throat. " Y-Yes, they are very lovely, my lord." He seems to be a bit startled.
God chuckles. " Please, call me Elohim. " his eye sparkles at the name.
Gabriel raises a brow at this name, never once hearing this name before. " Elohim? What does -" " It means mighty one." God chuckles, he quickly apologizes.
"Ah- sorry, it was very rude of me to interrupt you." God lowers his body.
Gabriel nods. " It's quite alright, I don't mind. What did you want to show me?" He raises his chin, his hands behind his back.
God's eye cruves upwards, like a smile. He looks down at Gabriel's dark brown hair and eyes.
" I wanted to show you this -" his arms move outwards. " These halls are filled with history. Moments stuck in time..." He puts his hand on one of the paintings before taking it off and clearing his throat.
" Sorry, frog, in my throat. Anyway, where was i...- ah, yes! I want you -" He puts a finger on Gabriel's chest " to be the next God!"
Gabriel's mouth drops, hanging open. He quickly shuts it with his hand so as not to offend God. " A-Are you s-serious?" He stammers over his words.
God nods happily, clapping his hands like a child getting a new toy. " I know, I know. You must be so excited, but off you go! " He starts to scoot him out of the hallway and into the main room.
" You have a mighty big day tomorrow, so rest up, You'll start your training on how to be God!" He giggles like a school girl, shoving him out of the doors and outside, the doors slame shut behind Gabriel, scarring him.
Gabriel looks completely dumbstruck. He's completely baffled and confused. He holds his head.
" How'd it go? " Xyla, one of God angel grauds, looks down at Gabriel. Her many eyes looking all about, scanning him for anything.
Gabriel swallows hard. " I-I think...he just asked me to become the next God." He stares up at Xyla.
