The Night

That Night

It was a rainy night,

As he was walking down the quiet street with only the painting shadows of street poles, and the quiet hum of crickets in the still darkness

The rain fell like crystals through the poles' lights, splashing onto the floor.

Clothes were soaked wet, but not damp enough inside his running mind, now hazed with negative emotions and blood dripping from his shoulder, making the blood mix with the rainwater,

As his footsteps reach a specific area filled with overwhelming darkness,

A match light flickered across the distance, revealing the sharp features of a beauty whose jaw spoke of a cruel blade with a sharp end, her eyes were cold as ice with refining irises of venom

The image was clear,

She was not an ordinary person, but something else, something sharp, something dangerous.

But as she moved the lit matchstick towards her cigar, the cigar burned to life, and the light from the matchstick vanished,

All his eyes could capture was her standing figure, and her cigar burning,

She inhaled the cigar and blew a stream of smoke,

Then what happened was something unexpected

She Spoke.

She spoke with a voice that was too sweet to be fake but also too sharp to cut like a blade,

"Aren't you a bleeding passerby wandering around in these streets?"

He could only think about one possibility

She must be Alice

Then she spoke again,

"Any reason?, For roaming around this late in this rainy night?"

The voice was too sweet to make the person get sweetened to desire, but behind that voice was the sharp, cutting tone that clearly meant danger.

He carefully cleared his doubts, steadied his voice, and spoke in a dark tone, flat yet dark enough to tear the distraction.

"I was passing by, catching up to a bar, and returning home."

She surprisingly let out a low chuckle, which was either too amusing or too dangerous,

After the chuckle ended, he could hear the footsteps coming from her,

It was clear,

She was approaching

From that moment

His body coiled, ready to dodge, attack, and move, but a bleeding shoulder kept his posture low; he still steadied himself.

As the footsteps were coming closer and closer,

Alice's face started to show the sharp features under the light of the street pole, revealing that sharp jawline, the pale skin, with cheekbones that spoke of beauty laced with sharpness.

She stopped a few feet away from him. She was wearing a black suit tailored to cling to her toned physique, and the coat added an extra element of dominance to her stride.

She then tilted her head slightly like a predator judging her prey as she narrowed her eyes slightly and observed him from head to toe, a nd her eyes landed on his bleeding shoulder, which he was clutching to resist the pain,

That was the time she smirked, like a predator grinning with confidence as it found its prey in a weak state and easy to catch

She then spoke with a voice that was laced with honey and too sweet to digest,

"Oh my, Oh my, You are bleeding sweet heart"

She said the word "sweetheart" with extra sweetness, and her lips quirked into a predator grin, a grin that a predator takes as it takes in sight of its prey,

His mind raced through multiple thousands of thoughts,

He knew he had to escape,

He knew he had to do something about it,

But something in his posture made him rigid and freeze in place,

Then Alice approached, closing the distance slowly and accurately as her slow steps stopped right 1 foot from him,

Slowly, she reached out and brushed a finger on his cheek

At close, her face was wet because of the rain, and her clothes were damp too.

From the touch,

He shivered and took a half step back, but also leaned into it,

As she noticed,

She moved

She reached his neck and injected the syringe with the sedative, slowly pushing the lever and slipping the sedative inside his veins.

As the drug found its way into his bloodstream, his eyes fluttered shut and his body went limp towards Alice,

Alice didn't hesitate to grip him by his shoulder, nd for a moment she just brushed her finger aagainsthis jaw, tracing the finger towards his neck and inhaling his smell,

The smell was so him, so his and so fresh, coming just from him,

After she admired him, like a predator finally settling on the prey and ready to break it, she gracefully stood up and flicked her two fingers,

As the men were summoned from the shadows, one of them picked him up over his shoulder like a saggy bag of potatoes and stood in front of Alice,

Alice smirked as she watched him limp, completely vulnerable, hanging on her guard's shoulder, and moved her 2 fingers in a cross as the signal to speak out loud, "Follow me."

The signal was clear, and the guards followed her, along with the man hanging limp on one guard's shoulder. She caught subtle glances at him as she walked.
