Summary

NEVERMORE is a survival story set in a world that looks exactly like ours— except everyone is gone. A small group of students wakes to an empty city. Streets are silent, buildings remain untouched, and time moves forward without explanation. With no answers and nowhere else to go, they take shelter in their school and begin exploring what remains. Beyond the familiar streets lies the Farlands—a place where the city abruptly ends, and reality feels… wrong. As the days pass, the silence begins to change. A sense of being watched lingers. Shadows grow heavier. Something unseen moves with intention. At the center of the group is a quiet observer—someone who notices what others miss, who stays calm when fear spreads, and who seems strangely in sync with this broken world. His presence brings reassurance, especially to one girl who finds herself instinctively staying close to him. Nothing explains itself. Nothing reveals itself. Yet one thing becomes clear— They are not alone. NEVERMORE.

Episode 1:- The Beginning's At Maplewood

The streets of Brooklyn buzzed with the usual afternoon energy - car horns, distant subway rumbles, and students walking toward the prestigious Maplewood Academy. Ivy climbed the school's brick walls, and sunlight gleamed off the tall glass windows.

Students bustled into the academy, some chatting in small groups, others walking briskly with their heads down, textbooks in hand. The courtyard was alive with movement: sneakers squeaking, locker doors slamming, and laughter echoing across the hallways.

Josh, tall and confident, dribbled a basketball as he walked toward the main building, calling out a joke to Evelyn, who was carrying her volleyball gear. She laughed softly, bumping his shoulder.

Alex strolled by quietly, his sharp features and calm expression drawing glances from several girls. A few whispered and nudged each other as they passed.

Ronin leaned against a wall nearby, observing the comings and goings with quiet intensity, his dark eyes scanning each student silently.

Zoe, the "princess" of the school, floated through the crowd with her usual poise, a small smile tugging at her lips as friends waved at her. She didn't notice Drax, walking alone along the far side of the courtyard, head down, a black mask covering his face.

Alice walked calmly behind Zoe, expression unreadable, icy hair glinting in the sunlight.

Elisa was absorbed in her handheld gaming device, weaving through the crowd with surprising dexterity, occasionally letting out small amused chuckles.

Josh tossed the basketball lightly to Evelyn.

"Hey, don't drop it this time," he teased.

Evelyn smirked. "You're just mad you can't hit a serve like me."

Josh laughed. "Maybe... maybe next time, Princess of Volleyball."

Across the courtyard, Alex noticed a group of girls whispering and glanced at them, offering a subtle nod.

"Morning," he said smoothly, and a few of the girls blushed.

Ronin, standing silently, tilted his head slightly, analyzing. "They don't even notice the small details... yet," he thought, arms folded.

Meanwhile, Drax kept to himself, walking alone, eyes scanning the ground and the students around him. Zack and Josh were ahead, laughing loudly.

Drax gave them a small, almost imperceptible nod, respecting their space, before continuing down the walkway alone.

The bell rang, a crisp chime echoing through Maplewood Academy's hallways. Students shuffled toward their classrooms, some chatting, some walking in silence.

Drax entered a bright classroom at the far end of the hall, taking a seat near the window. He kept to himself, pulling out a notebook he wasn't always carrying - just for today's lecture - and jotting down small notes.

At the other side of the room, Zack leaned casually against a desk, joking with Josh, who was slouching comfortably, tossing a pen into the air and catching it with a grin.

Across the room, Alex took a seat near the center. His quiet confidence made him seem approachable yet distant, drawing small glances from female classmates. He didn't speak much, but his presence alone made a few students whisper and giggle.

Ronin slipped in silently, finding a desk in the back corner. He sat upright, hands folded, observing the class and the students around him with a careful, calculating gaze.

Zoe floated down the aisle like she owned the room, waving politely to friends. She paused briefly, adjusting her hair, her eyes scanning the classroom casually.

Alice followed, quiet and graceful, sitting a few rows behind Zoe. Her white hair shimmered under the fluorescent lights, her gaze calm and unreadable.

Evelyn made her way to a desk near Josh, smiling shyly. "Morning," she said softly.

Josh grinned. "Hey, Princess of Volleyball. Ready to crush this lecture?"

Evelyn rolled her eyes lightly but couldn't hide her smile.

Elisa, meanwhile, sat at her usual desk in the corner, headphones in, typing on her handheld device.

Occasionally, she would glance at the whiteboard or make a small amused noise at her game.

The teacher, Mr. Harrington, a tall man with glasses perched on his nose, began the lesson.

"Good afternoon, students. Let's start with a brief review of yesterday's material."

Josh whispered to Zack: "Bet I can answer the first question before anyone else."

Zack smirked. "You wish. Watch me steal your thunder."

Alex noticed a few girls passing notes quietly across the aisle. He tilted his head and smiled faintly. "Careful," he murmured under his breath, earning a stifled giggle.

Ronin's eyes briefly scanned the notes, then back to the teacher. "All distractions are irrelevant," he thought.

Evelyn nudged Josh lightly, pointing to the diagram on the board. "See? That's how it works."

Josh grinned, whispering, "Thanks, Princess. You're saving my grade again."

Zoe leaned back in her chair, scribbling absentmindedly in her notebook, glancing at friends while pretending to take notes. Alice, sitting behind her, barely moved, focused entirely on the lesson.

Drax quietly took notes, occasionally glancing at the other students. His gaze lingered briefly on small interactions - Josh and Evelyn, Zack joking, Alex receiving attention - but he stayed mostly silent.

Elisa tapped lightly on her device, whispering to herself, "This level's impossible..." without drawing attention.

Ronin's posture never wavered. He noticed Zoe's glances, Josh's jokes, and Zack's playful smirks but remained silent, evaluating patterns and movements.

Mr. Harrington pointed toward Josh. "Can you solve this problem on the board?"

Josh stood, walked confidently, and solved the equation in record time, grinning.

The class murmured in approval, some students laughing at his playful confidence.

Zack gave a thumbs-up from his desk, clearly impressed but not jealous.

Evelyn clapped softly, her eyes bright.

Meanwhile, Drax's notebook remained open, pen scratching silently. He didn't participate in the attention - he simply observed.

The bell rang, and students poured out into the courtyard. Josh immediately started dribbling his basketball, calling out to Evelyn:

"Come on, Princess of Volleyball, bet you can't block this one!"

Evelyn rolled her eyes playfully but ran to meet him, bumping his shoulder as they started a casual game.

Zack walked with Drax at a distance, laughing at Josh's antics. Drax stayed quiet, watching the movements around him, respecting Zack's space.

Zoe walked with her two friends, talking softly, trying to act casual. She stole glances at Zack every few seconds.

Alex lingered near the benches, quietly smiling at the girls walking past. Ronin leaned against a wall, arms crossed, observing everything silently. Elisa sat on the edge of the courtyard, playing on her handheld device, occasionally smirking at Josh's game.

Zoe whispered to her friends: "He's... so oblivious, isn't he?"

Friend 1: "Oblivious? You've been staring at him all day."

Friend 2: "Just be yourself. One day, he'll notice."

Meanwhile, Drax quietly sat on a bench, flipping a page slowly, keeping mostly to himself. He noticed Zoe glancing at Zack but didn't pay much mind.

The bell rang again, signaling the next period. Students shuffled into the hallways.

Zack and Josh walked ahead, joking loudly, Drax trailing behind at his own pace. Being quiet and alone suited him; he didn't mind the distance.

Zoe suddenly realized she had forgotten her notebook for the next class. She grabbed it from her bag and hurried down the hallway with her two friends, chatting lightly as they walked.

Drax, heading to the same class, came around a corner a few steps behind her. Distracted, Zoe didn't notice him at all.

Bump!

Drax and Zoe collided gently. Her notebook slipped from her grasp.

Zoe froze for a moment. Drax bent down quickly, picking it up.

Zoe: "Oh... thank you."

Drax: nods slightly, holding the notebook out to her

She looked at the cover, noticing the name written neatly on the front: Drax. Her eyes widened slightly - this was the first time she realized he existed.

Zoe thought: "Drax...? I've never noticed him before."

Drax handed the notebook to her with a small, almost shy nod, then continued toward his classroom, keeping to himself.

Zoe watched him go, subtly intrigued.

Zoe leaned against a railing near the classroom exit, fidgeting with her bag strap. Her two friends flanked her, chatting quietly but with earnest expressions.

Friend 1: "Come on, Zoe. You've been staring at him all week. You like him, right? You can't just... wait forever."

Zoe: blushing slightly, whispering "I... I don't know. What if he doesn't even notice me?"

Friend 2: "That's why you need to take the first step. Just walk home with him. That's all. Nothing big, just show you care."

Friend 1: "Yeah! And if you don't try, nothing's going to happen. You'll just stay stuck thinking about it."

Zoe bit her lip, hesitation written all over her face. She looked toward the courtyard where Zack and Josh were joking and laughing.

Zoe thought: "Okay... maybe just... maybe just this once."

She straightened up, took a deep breath, and started walking toward Zack, determination flickering in her eyes.

.

Her friends exchanged small, supportive smiles behind her.

Across the courtyard, Zack and Josh were laughing and tossing a basketball lightly. Alice walked near the edge of the steps, her steps graceful but cautious. Evelyn and other students milled around, chatting or heading home.

Suddenly - Alice's foot caught on a loose cobblestone. She stumbled slightly, her balance wavering.

Zack reacted instantly. Without thinking, he reached out and caught her hand, steadying her. The gesture was simple, almost instinctive - but the blush that rose to his cheeks was real and noticeable.

Zoe froze, her chest tightening. Time seemed to stretch for a heartbeat.

Zoe thought: "He... he's with Alice... and he's blushing... oh no, what do I do?"

Her emotions overwhelmed her. The courage she had been building crumbled in an instant. Slowly at first, then in a sudden rush, she turned and ran away from the courtyard, tears streaming down her face.

Zack, Alice, and Josh were oblivious, laughing and chatting, completely unaware of Zoe's emotional escape.

Drax, standing quietly a few steps away, noticed her running. His dark eyes followed her retreating figure, calm but observant.

Drax thought quietly: "She's... crying? Why? They don't even notice. She shouldn't be like this."

He didn't move to stop her - he didn't interfere - but his attention lingered on Zoe as she disappeared from view.

The courtyard felt suddenly quieter, even with students still lingering. The first day at Maplewood Academy had ended - filled with unspoken feelings, subtle tensions, and the faintest beginnings of mysteries yet to come...
