First Day
September first entry
No way. I just graduated from middle school—and I’m top of my class. Best. Day. Ever.
I’m going to a new school called Peace view High School, and I still can’t believe that I, Valerie Thompson, am about to be a freshman. Like… an actual high school student. It still feels unreal.
Everyone keeps talking about how high school is going to be harder, but honestly? I’m not worried. I’ve always been the perfect student—good grades, neat notes, teachers’ favorite and classmates (okay, maybe not everyone’s favorite, but still). I just know I’m going to do amazing.
There’s this thing called the Freshman Dinner. It happens once a year, just for new students, and only freshmen are allowed. I heard it’s supposed to help us “settle in” and meet new people, but I think it’s actually kind of exciting. Like a welcome party—but more formal.
There are other big events too. The graduating class—there’s something called prom. Everyone says it’s one of the most important nights of high school. Dresses, music, dancing… it all sounds so grown-up. I can’t even imagine being a senior yet, but I guess I’ll get there one day.
Tomorrow, I start at my new school, and I just know it’s going to be the best school ever. New classrooms, new teachers, new friends… everything is going to be perfect.
High school, here I come.
