Chapter 1
Seoul, South Korea.
The city lights sparkled under the night sky while Manha, a cheerful but lonely girl, walked through the busy streets after finishing her shift at a small café. Ever since losing her mother, she had learned to hide her pain behind a smile. Deep inside, however, she felt empty.
Music was the only thing that made her happy, especially the songs of V-Kim, South Korea’s most famous singer and actor. Millions loved him, but to Manha, he was simply the person whose voice had comforted her during the darkest nights.
She never imagined she would meet him.
That night, as rain began to fall, Manha took a shortcut through an empty alley. Suddenly, she heard shouting.
“Catch him! Don’t let him escape!”
Five masked men were chasing someone dressed in black.
Before Manha could run away, the mysterious man crashed into her. They both fell to the ground.
“Ouch!” Manha cried.
The stranger quickly grabbed her hand.
“Please, hide me,” he whispered urgently.
His voice sounded familiar.
The men were getting closer.
Without thinking, Manha pulled him behind some boxes.
“Where did he go?” one of the gang members shouted.
After a few moments, the men left.
The stranger sighed in relief and slowly removed his hood.
Manha’s eyes widened.
“No way...”
Standing in front of her was V-Kim.
“The V-Kim?” she stammered.
He smiled weakly.
“Looks like my secret is out.”
Before Manha could say another word, one of the masked men returned and attacked them.
V-Kim instantly stood in front of her.
“Stay behind me!”
The man swung a knife, but V-Kim blocked him and threw a powerful punch. Another attacker appeared from behind, hitting V-Kim in the shoulder.
“V-Kim!” Manha screamed.
Without thinking, she grabbed a wooden stick and struck the attacker.
The gang members retreated when they heard police sirens.
Breathing heavily, V-Kim looked at Manha and smiled.
“You just saved my life.”
Manha laughed nervously.
“And you almost got me killed.”
For the first time in months, both of them smiled.
But neither of them noticed the black car parked across the street.
Inside, a man watched them with cold eyes.
He made a phone call.
“Boss, we found him.”
“And the girl?”
“She’s with him.”
There was silence before a chilling voice answered,
“Then eliminate both of them.”
Meanwhile, V-Kim looked at Manha and quietly said,
“From tonight onward, your life will never be the same.”
