Chapter 1: Sapphire, Dragon Kingdom
The sunlight streams through the branches of the trees as I walk along the path through the woods. I hear a faint rustling in the branches to my right, a shiver running down my spine.
I glance torward the trees to the right, growling slightly, but there's nothing there. I stop in the middle of the path, listening intently.
'What's going on here?' I thought, growing wary.
I slam to the ground, a heavy weight on top of me, I begin to struggle but stop when I hear my best friend Feather's voice. "Hey! Let's have some fun Sapphire. I've been so bored lately. Nothing interesting is ever happening around here." She said, beginning to ramble
"Okay! Let's find something to do! Actually, tag! You're it!" I yelled, leaping onto a nearby branch. Feather leapt after me, squealing in delight.
She tackled me onto the forest floor, and we giggled as the branches above us swayed in the breeze.
"Hey! You are needed in the throne room immediately." One of the guards from the palace yells from down the path. We scramble to our feet, racing down the path back to the palace.
When we tumbled through the doors and into the throne room, the King and Queen shifted in their seats, the air in the room tense.
"We need to talk." The King said.
