The Kingdom of the Last Light

Chapter One: The Call of the Crystal

No one dared approach Mount Erath after sunset. Legends claimed that the mountain was not made of stone, but of frozen light, and that it concealed a gateway to a world unknown to humankind.

On the night when the twin moons became full, the sky silently split apart, and a brilliant white star fell into the heart of the Sacred Forest. At that very moment, the trees shimmered with silver leaves, and the dragons that had slept for a thousand years awakened.

In a small village on the edge of the world lived a young orphan named Elian. He was neither a knight nor a sorcerer, but a mapmaker who dreamed of discovering lands no one had ever set foot upon. His life changed forever when he found a glowing blue crystal beneath the roots of an ancient tree. It pulsed like a living heart.

The instant he touched it, a mysterious voice whispered:

"You have been chosen... You are the Bearer of the Last Light."

The ground trembled beneath his feet as flocks of birds burst from the forest in panic. On the horizon, enormous black clouds twisted into massive whirlwinds, as though the heavens themselves were preparing for war.

Elian rushed toward his village, only to stop abruptly when he saw an old man dressed in a white cloak standing in the middle of the path, as if he had been waiting there for years.

The old man spoke calmly.

"I knew you would find the crystal."

Elian instinctively stepped back, clutching the crystal tightly against his chest.

"Who are you?"

The old man smiled gently.

"My name is Orion... the last Guardian of the Light."

Raising his staff, he released a beam of golden light that formed a glowing map in the air. Seven kingdoms appeared, surrounding a vast Sea of Clouds. At the very center stood a towering black citadel that pierced the sky.

Orion's expression grew solemn.

"A thousand years ago, the kings of the Seven Kingdoms united to defeat the Lord of Shadows. They could not destroy him, so they imprisoned him within the Black Citadel and sealed it with seven sacred crystals. But one of those crystals disappeared..."

He looked directly into Elian's eyes.

"And now... it is in your hands."

The crystal suddenly felt heavier, as though it carried the weight of history itself.

Without warning, a deafening roar echoed across the heavens. The clouds split apart, revealing a colossal black dragon whose crimson eyes burned like fire. Its enormous wings blotted out the sun.

Orion shouted,

"They've found us... Run!"

The dragon plunged toward the forest, unleashing black flames that did not burn wood, but consumed the very light itself.

Elian ran with all his strength, realizing that his ordinary life had come to an end.

His journey to save the Seven Kingdoms had begun.

And in that very moment, both the forces of Light and the armies of Darkness learned a new name...

Elian... the Bearer of the Last Light.

Chapter One – Part Two: The Last Guardian of the Light

The black dragon circled above the forest, casting its immense shadow over the trees. Its thunderous roar shook the mountains, sending loose stones tumbling down the slopes.

Orion gripped Elian's arm firmly and whispered,

"Do not look into its eyes for too long. They are not ordinary eyes. They reach into the heart of a person and feed upon their deepest fears."

Elian lowered his gaze, but he could not resist stealing a brief glance. For a single moment, time seemed to stand still. Within the dragon's crimson eyes, he saw burning cities, rivers of fire, and endless armies marching beneath banners of darkness.

He gasped, dropped to one knee, and struggled to catch his breath.

Orion spoke calmly.

"The magic of the Shadows has touched your mind... but the crystal protected you."

He placed a hand near the crystal, and it glowed with a brilliant blue light. Instantly, the pain that had overwhelmed Elian faded away.

There was no time for questions.

The air turned icy cold, and tall figures emerged from between the trees. They wore black armor that concealed every feature of their faces and carried long spears surrounded by a violet aura.

Orion's voice grew tense.

"Shadow Soldiers... I have not seen them for fifty years."

He raised his staff toward the sky, and a circle of golden light formed around them. The first spear struck the barrier and exploded in a blinding flash, forcing the soldiers to retreat.

But the dragon did not.

It opened its massive jaws and unleashed a torrent of black fire that swept across the edge of the forest, reducing the ancient trees to lifeless pillars of ash.

Orion's face turned pale.

"The barrier will not hold much longer."

He reached beneath his cloak and pulled out an ancient leather map, its edges worn by time. At its center were seven glowing circles connected by thin silver lines.

He handed it to Elian.

"This is not a map of roads... It is a map of destiny."

Elian stared in amazement as the seven circles began to glow one after another. Only the northernmost circle remained dark.

"What does it mean?" he asked.

Orion let out a slow breath.

"Seven kingdoms once carried the Light. They stood together for centuries until greed and war divided them. Unless they are united again, the world will fall into eternal darkness."

At that very moment, the crystal in Elian's hand began to vibrate. Threads of blue light stretched from it toward the dark circle on the map.

Orion's eyes widened.

"Impossible..."

"What is happening?"

"The Lost Kingdom has awakened," Orion whispered, his voice filled with both fear and hope. "The kingdom everyone believed had vanished from existence."

Before he could say another word, a black arrow pierced the golden barrier and struck the ground only a few steps away.

A heavy silence fell.

Then, from the smoke, a lone knight emerged.

He wore gleaming black armor, crowned with twisted horns, and carried a long sword that seemed to devour the light around it.

The knight slowly raised his blade and declared in a deep, commanding voice,

"Surrender the Bearer of the Crystal... and no one else has to die."

Orion stepped forward without hesitation. Planting his staff firmly into the ground, he met the knight's gaze.

"As long as there is breath in my body... the Darkness shall never claim him."

Chapter One – Part Three: The First Awakening

For a heartbeat, no one moved.

The wind died.

Even the forest seemed to hold its breath.

The knight's sword pulsed with dark energy, swallowing every ray of light that dared to touch its blade.

Then he took a single step forward.

The earth cracked beneath his armored boots.

Orion tightened his grip on his staff.

"Stay behind me, Elian."

The old guardian struck the ground with the end of his staff. Golden symbols spread across the forest floor like ripples upon water, forming an ancient circle of protection.

The Shadow Soldiers charged.

Their black spears sliced through the air with deadly precision.

Orion raised his hand.

"Light Shield!"

A brilliant wall of golden light erupted before them. The first wave of spears shattered against it, scattering sparks across the battlefield.

But more soldiers followed.

Dozens became hundreds.

They emerged endlessly from the darkness between the trees.

The black dragon descended lower, its enormous wings creating violent gusts that uprooted ancient oaks.

It opened its jaws once more.

"No..." Orion whispered.

A torrent of black fire rushed toward them.

At the last instant, Orion lifted both hands, pouring every remaining ounce of his strength into the shield.

The collision shook the entire forest.

The golden barrier trembled violently.

Cracks of light spread across its surface.

Orion fell to one knee.

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

"I cannot hold it much longer..."

Fear gripped Elian's heart.

He had never fought.

He had never held a sword.

He was only a mapmaker.

"What do I do?" he cried.

Orion looked at him with determined eyes.

"Do not fight the crystal..."

"Trust it."

The words echoed inside Elian's mind.

His fingers closed around the blue crystal.

It was warm.

Almost alive.

Its heartbeat merged with his own.

Suddenly, a blinding blue light burst from within his hand.

The Shadow Soldiers froze.

The dragon roared in fury.

The crystal rose into the air by itself, surrounded by streams of brilliant light that spiraled around Elian like living stars.

Ancient symbols appeared across his arms, glowing brighter with every passing second.

He felt a power unlike anything he had ever imagined.

Not power born from anger...

But from hope.

The ground beneath him exploded with blue energy.

A massive wave of light swept through the forest.

Every Shadow Soldier caught within it was hurled backward.

Their black armor cracked.

Their weapons dissolved into dust.

Even the dragon was forced into the sky by the overwhelming force.

The mysterious knight raised his sword to shield himself from the radiance.

"So..." he murmured.

"The prophecy was true."

The light slowly faded.

Elian collapsed onto the ground, breathing heavily.

The glowing symbols vanished from his skin as quickly as they had appeared.

The crystal gently floated back into his trembling hands.

Silence returned to the forest.

Orion smiled for the first time.

"You have awakened..."

Before he could finish the sentence, a deep voice echoed across the mountains.

"You have only delayed the inevitable."

The black dragon climbed into the storm clouds, while the mysterious knight turned away without another word.

Within seconds, the entire army of shadows disappeared into the darkness.

The battle was over.

But the war...

Had only just begun.

Chapter One – Part Four: The Temple of the Forgotten Kingdom

The silence that followed the battle felt unnatural.

Smoke drifted slowly between the broken trees, and the scent of scorched earth filled the air. Birds no longer sang. Even the wind seemed afraid to move through the wounded forest.

Elian struggled to his feet, still clutching the crystal.

"Orion..."

The old guardian was leaning heavily on his staff. His white cloak was stained with blood, and every breath came slower than the last.

"We must leave," Orion said quietly.

"They will return."

Without another word, the two of them disappeared into the depths of the forest.

Hours passed beneath the towering trees.

The sunlight barely reached the ground, hidden behind a thick canopy of silver leaves. Strange creatures watched them from the shadows but never came close, as though they recognized the crystal's ancient power.

Elian noticed Orion growing weaker with every step.

"You need to rest."

Orion smiled faintly.

"There will be time to rest... if we survive today."

The path narrowed until it ended before a massive cliff covered with vines.

"There is nothing here," Elian said.

"There is," Orion replied.

"You simply cannot see it."

The old guardian placed his trembling hand against the stone wall.

Ancient words echoed from his lips in a language older than memory itself.

The cliff began to glow.

Golden lines spread across the rock like veins of light.

Then, with a deep rumble, the mountain slowly opened.

Beyond it stood an enormous temple untouched by time.

Its white pillars reached toward the heavens, engraved with dragons, kings, and symbols unlike anything Elian had ever seen.

A staircase of crystal led to a pair of magnificent silver doors.

As Elian stepped onto the first stair, the blue crystal in his hand began to shine once again.

The doors opened by themselves.

Inside, thousands of floating lights illuminated a vast hall.

At its center stood seven stone thrones arranged in a perfect circle.

Six of them glowed with faint golden light.

The seventh remained dark.

Above it was carved a single symbol—the same symbol that had appeared on Elian's arm during the battle.

Orion lowered his head.

"The Lost Kingdom..."

He slowly approached the empty throne.

"For centuries we believed it had fallen forever."

Elian looked around in wonder.

"If this place still exists... why has no one ever found it?"

"Because," Orion answered, "the temple reveals itself only to the true Bearer of the Last Light."

Before Elian could respond, the crystal suddenly floated from his hands.

It drifted toward the dark throne.

The entire temple began to tremble.

The floor shook.

The pillars echoed with ancient voices.

One by one, glowing symbols appeared across the walls.

A beam of blue light descended from the ceiling and surrounded the throne.

Then a voice—older than the mountains themselves—filled the temple.

"The Heir has returned."

Elian's heart pounded.

"The heir?"

He turned toward Orion.

"What does that mean?"

The old guardian did not answer immediately.

His face had gone pale.

There was sorrow in his eyes...

And fear.

Finally, he whispered,

"It means your destiny is greater than I ever imagined."

At that very moment, a loud crack echoed through the temple.

One of the ancient pillars split in two.

From the darkness beyond the broken stone, two brilliant golden eyes slowly opened.

Something had been sleeping beneath the temple for a thousand years.

And now...

It was awake.

Chapter One – Part Five: The Guardian's Secret

The temple fell into complete silence.

Only the sound of cracking stone echoed through the vast chamber.

The two golden eyes remained fixed on Elian.

Then, with a thunderous roar, the ancient floor collapsed. Massive fragments of marble crashed into the darkness below as a colossal creature slowly emerged from the abyss.

Its scales shimmered like polished gold.

Its wings stretched across the entire hall.

Its horns curved toward the ceiling like the branches of an ancient tree.

It was a dragon.

Not a creature of darkness...

But one of pure light.

Elian instinctively stepped back.

The crystal in his hand glowed brighter than ever before.

The dragon lowered its enormous head until its eyes met Elian's.

For a long moment, neither moved.

Then the creature spoke.

Its voice was deep, calm, and carried the weight of forgotten ages.

"At last..."

"The Bearer of the Last Light has returned."

Elian stared in disbelief.

"You can speak?"

A faint smile appeared in the dragon's ancient eyes.

"I have spoken every language ever born."

Orion slowly knelt before the magnificent creature.

"My king..."

Elian turned sharply.

"My king?"

The old guardian bowed his head.

"This is Aurion... the First Guardian of the Seven Kingdoms."

The dragon nodded.

"For a thousand years I have waited beneath this temple, protecting the final secret."

"The final secret?" Elian asked.

Aurion's golden gaze rested upon the crystal.

"The crystal did not choose you by chance."

"It returned to its rightful master."

Elian felt his heart stop.

"I don't understand."

"You will."

Aurion gently touched the crystal with one of his claws.

A brilliant wave of blue light spread throughout the temple.

Images appeared in the air.

A magnificent kingdom floating above the clouds.

A young king wearing armor of silver.

Seven rulers standing together before countless dragons.

Then...

Betrayal.

Fire.

Darkness.

The images shattered like broken glass.

Aurion closed his eyes.

"The Lost Kingdom did not fall."

"It was hidden."

"Your bloodline was hidden with it."

Elian could barely breathe.

"You mean..."

"Yes," Aurion replied.

"You are the last heir of the Lost Kingdom."

Before another word could be spoken, the temple shook violently.

The crystal dimmed.

A deafening roar echoed from outside.

The dragon lifted his head.

"They have found the temple."

Black lightning struck the mountains.

The silver doors burst open.

Dark smoke poured into the sacred hall.

Within it stood the black knight.

This time, he was not alone.

Behind him marched thousands of Shadow Soldiers, their armor reflecting the flashes of dark lightning.

The knight pointed his sword toward Elian.

"There is nowhere left to run."

Aurion spread his radiant wings across the temple, shielding Elian and Orion.

Golden light flooded the hall.

The dragon's voice thundered like the sky itself.

"Then let the Second War of the Seven Kingdoms begin."

Outside, the storm swallowed the heavens.

Inside, the Last Light had finally found its heir.

And far beyond the mountains, where no map had ever reached, seven ancient crowns began to glow at the same moment...

As if the kingdoms themselves had awakened.
