[1]. Bad beginning

Sophia was a young and beautiful girl. Without much education as she was an orphan. She went from one foster family to another. So when she heard that a law firm was looking a secretary, she felt she had to apply for the job, although she had no experience. She hoped to be lucky. She sat in her bed and formed Olivia’s number on her cell phone.

“Hello, Olivia. How are you”.

“Hello, Sophia. I’m fine. What’s news? All good?“.

“Yeah, good. You know... I would like you to help me with something...“, she said hesitantly.

“Of course, if I can. Tell me what it is?“.

“An office asks for a secretary and I want to go. But I do not have such good clothes and you know my finances are not that good at this time. I have to pay bills. I have no room for expenses and I was saying you could lend me any good clothes. I would like to make a good impression. They can hire me if I’m lucky”.

“Don’t ask it. Come at my place, to see what good I have to give you. Be careful. Kisses”.

“You’re a lovely friend. I love you. Kisses”.

“I love you, doll. I’m waiting for you at 8”.

Sophia hung up the phone with joy and hope. She wanted this particular job a lot. So in the afternoon she visited her friend as she arranged it. They tried many clothes until they found something wonderful. Sophia was not accustomed to such clothes but she said to try it. At her first salary she could buy something similar. Leaving Olivia’s house she shouted, “I’m sure you’re gonna impressed with this outfit. Good luck, doll. See you”.

Sophia was not so sure, but she deeply wished she could have such an opportunity. She could have done this job well if she was given the opportunity. She thought the boss does not be mean and make her life hell like the one she is working now. The fact that she does not leave this awful job of the waitress is that she has nothing else. Besides, the awful Kevin tried to kiss her once and gave him a hard slap. Since then he has made her life hell. This work looked like a gift of God. She wanted to leave this tavern so much. She did not bear this treatment. Many times she has the desire to drop everything and leave but she has had many bills to pay.

From her anxiety she could not sleep, she was ready an hour before, she looked in the mirror herself, she took her bag and headed for the office. The traffic was busy as always but she was sure she would be on time. She kept looking at her watch and asked her, “If we arrive,” something that started to irritate the taxi driver, she saw it on his face but she did not care much. At last, she had reached to the impressive, huge 20-storey building. She took a breath and walked in. Headed to the reception.

“Good morning, could you tell me where is Mr Levin’s office?”.

“Good morning, miss. It is located on the 7th floor, on your right”.

“Thank you very much”.

“You are welcome”.

Sophia headed for the elevator that was nearby. But as she was awkward, she did not notice the gentleman who came and fell upon him with forays and found himself in a very close distance and throwing him the coffee he held in his hand. He irritated said: “Look what you did, you stupid!!! You destroyed my Versace suit!”

“I am so sorry. I did not see you...”.

“Your sorry is not enough to fix my suit, young lady! I have a major meeting and I have to find other clothes since you destroyed them”, he said rudely, turning to leave without looking back.

Sophia felt great shame. Eventually, the elevator came, walked in and pushed the button for the 7th floor for Mr. Levin’s office. In a few minutes she had reached and when the door opened thousands of women were there for the job. She felt insecure and no hope for the position. It was of course influenced by the event at the entrance of the elevator. But she went to the secretary standing in her office.

“Good morning, I came to the job of secretary”.

“Good morning, fill in form and we will call you”.

“Thanks”.

Sophia moved away from the girl’s office and looked at what the application had written. It was asking a lot of requirements and she had studied nothing in order to be able to get such a job. She felt terrible despair, she did not know what she was doing there. Her hopes was too small. But she persuaded herself to stay and see if she had the slightest opportunity, she will fight it.
