Prologue

Once upon a time, in a whimsical far away world, lived two highly esteemed aristocrats. They had a wonderful reputation and a luxurious home near the outskirts of town. They were, by far, the most beautiful couple in all the land and their daughter was the spitting image of their parents beauty. They named their gorgeous daughter, Summer. And everything in their lives was absolutely perfect until a little less than a decade later when their second daughter was born.

Her name was Luna and there wasn't really anything wrong with her. She was not cursed, handicap or ugly in any way. In fact, it was quite the contrary, Luna was actually surprisingly healthy, her features were flawless, and she had been born just as beautiful as her parents. But there was one "error" in Luna that would alter the value of her life. You see, Luna was fat.

Seriously, that's it? Just fat? So then why is this such a big deal? Well, Luna's mother and father were... Perfectionist. They achieved their status through flaunting their beauty and pointing out flaws in other people. So as beautiful as Luna actually was there was nothing they could do to make her as slim and "presentable" as her older sister.

To the couple, Luna being born a few pounds overweight was the equivalent of an omen. It may seem petty to you, but an imperfect birth was absolutely horrifying to them. And so, through a process of somewhat questionable means, the couple somehow managed to pass her birth off as a miscarriage. But not all hope was lost, they were totally prepared to shock the world and take their daughter out of the shadows... But that would only come to pass if Luna could lose the weight.

And for twelve long years, poor Luna worked very hard to do it with hopes that she too could somehow become presentable enough for the outside world. Everyday she imagined herself attaining that dream weight and her celebrity parents proudly presenting her in a big beautiful dress for the whole world to see. But, to Luna's despair, it was not to be.

The family had tried everything under the sun. They made her exercise, had her on diets, and if it wasn't deadly they might have resorted to starving the poor girl. Either way, it still was not enough to make her fit into the model frame.

As a last resort, the couple got desperate and on her thirteenth birthday, they had pushed her into binge eating and when young Luna became ill, they had finally decided to give up on her entirely. There was no way around it. Luna was fat and It was absolutely horrid that her happiness and chance for a good life was contingent on losing weight. It was the most painful moment of her life because she believed that it was her fault.

The parents did not want an imperfect daughter and it was too late to abort their twelve year old daughter. That obviously left her parents with no choice but to put poor Luna and all of her belongings in the basement. This is where our story begins. In the darkness of the family basement. That is going to be the place Luna would remain until her eighteenth birthday.
