Vermillion Sunset
Graceful legs stalked through a lush, dense forest. The trees of the great forest stood still, towering high above the ground in which their roots took refuge within. Trailing behind the magnificent being was its vibrant ruby red plumage, each step leaving behind crystalline chunks of citrine stone.
As the creature ambled through the forest, its vibrant fan of ruby began to spark. Wisps of smoke rose from the forest floor, swirling in intricate patterns around the mythical being of lore. It continued to walk forward, its head held high with pride.
Among the wisps of smoke, a small flame had been kindled from the sparks, growing in size. Making its ascent, the growing inferno crept up the unmoving trees. In a matter of mere minutes after the creature of grace arrived, the forest had been set ablaze.
Strangely enough, the tree leaves continued to sway calmly, as if waiting for the fiery embrace. There were no signs of fauna within the forest, the only thing that could be heard was the growing crackling of the fire as it continued to spread.
Ash had begun to sprinkle, gently falling through the sky. The being stopped. Flames had begun to surround the creature, leaving no way of escape. This was by no means a complication.
The being crouched low to the ground, its feathers beginning to smolder. Raising its mighty wings, the creature leaped forward, its strong wings biting into the air with a powerful downstroke.
A successful takeoff had lead to the escape of the vermillion bird, its striking mark being left on the world.
