Prologue
If one were to browse a shelf stocked full of the world’s greatest stories; one might happen upon a very slim and unostentatious volume written by Heinz and Darwin Pearlman. Its unassuming appearance would belie its phantasmagoric contents, for in it would be tales of the most extraordinary—of the elusive mermaids.
It tells us about tales about a tale of how one of the very first people of the water where lured to land with a promise to be united with their love, a man of the first people of the sky, and was captured and cursed. It continues to tell of how when the captured woman fell ill her imprisoner tried to save her and when she died he salted the waters with his tears and allowed her spirit to become the sea that divided his people’s lands. He then went to return to his and her children.
When the sea’s still cursed children were in danger the love shared by the sea, sky and land was the only way for the children to, with the curse, enter the sea’s embrace of protection. And so till today, when a child of the sea loves someone truly and their love is returned, or when someone saved a child of the sea, they are rewarded by the sea…
But lies and deceit are hidden behind the events told to the world; such as:
When Darwin fell in love with such a beauty, he was certain that she was a mermaid, a mythical child of the sea. He had even attempted to save her sure that she had “drowned” after hitting her head against the hull while having fun jumping from the top deck of his small private cruise boat.
His brother had been placed in asylum only months before, but had now vanished without a trace, along with several others in the days that followed. People where speculated and a few who knew the brothers had their say in the matter – that Darwin was the mad man not Heinz who’s reason to being arrested and sent to the nut-house was mostly unknown.
No one could have prepared for what would happen when everything they thought was real would come crashing down on them… The lies… The secrets… The betrayal…
When families are torn between what is right and wrong to protect what and who truly matters to them…
When ghosts and monsters suddenly become real and faith alone cannot protect you…
I don't even know where to begin. I think I've been able to make out what was trying to be said in the blurb for this story, however, I found so many mistakes just in the blurb that now I have no desire to read the book at all. If the blurb has this many mistakes how many are in the story itself? I'm not willing to find out. I don't want to spend my time trying to decipher what is trying to be said when I'm an English speaking person trying to read an English book.
