❤️Chapter One❤️ Welcome Home

💛Rose's Pov💛
Trees as far as the eye can see. Greenery for miles. The sky was dark and gloomy, not very welcoming. Couple of crows lined the sky making the scenery in front of me look like something out of a horror movie.
I hated anything scary. Anything dark. Anything unknown. I wasn't one to deal well with things I wasn't familiar with. I was comfortable with what I knew. One could easily classify me as someone who wouldn't leave their comfort zone. My safe place.
Call me a scaredy cat that's fine. I probably was.
I sighed as I tried to calm my racing heart. One second it would be racing like a racehorse then the next it would be as slow as a snail.
Arrythemia is what doctors call it. 'Irregular heartbeats' is what they said. It could be life threatening but thankfully I wasn't in the red.
I always tried staying positive about my situation and thankfully to my medication my heart rate would eventually feel 'normal' even if it was only for a couple of hours.
I wasn't born like this. I was diagnosed when I was about twelve or thirteen years old. It came suddenly out of nowhere. No warning. No signs. No knock on the door.
Just boom! In your face!
It was okay though. There was nothing I could do about it. Ofcourse I would have been even happier if there was nothing wrong with me but it could've been a whole lot worst. I was just grateful to be alive.
My grip on the steering wheel tightened as I tried to calm myself. I pulled to the side of the road having my car stop with a screeching sound. I would do this from time to time. Having to stop so I could get fresh air to calm my heart. If I were to be driving with anyone besides me I'm sure they would've been quite annoyed. I don't think they would've been able to handle this.
I wasn't the best driver either honestly. Heck! I shouldn't even be driving in my condition. Doctors deemed me too 'unfit' to be behind the wheel. Said it wasn't safe for me or anyone else on the road.
With a swift motion I unbuckled my seat belt and unlocked my door. I got out the car and felt the cold air hit my face. I loved it. The cool air always did me some good. It had a calming affect on me. The wind carried my hair in all directions, I'm sure I looked like a complete mess right now. I pulled my coat tighter around me as I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine.
It wasn't a chill from the wind but a different kind. I didn't know this one. It was unknown and I didn't like it.
My breath hitched in my throat as I suddenly looked around feeling eyes on me. I was glued to the ground. I let my eyes wander and luckily I didn't see anything but the trees. There wasn't a single house in sight, even the crows from before seemed to have magically disappeared and just like the crows disappearing so did my racing heart.
I sighed in content knowing I could start driving again. I opened the drivers seat and was about to climb inside when I heard a loud howl. It was frighteningly loud. The sound was very close to me. I snapped my head in the direction of the howl to check if I could see anything but again I couldn't. I was glad I saw nothing. Didn't want anything unexpected.
I was surprised my heart rate didn't spike at the sound of it. It didn't sound aggressive or sad. I couldn't quite figure it out though. I shrugged my shoulders and climbed inside my car.
Must be wolves. The forest was probably full of wolves. Back when I was little there wasn't any wolves here. Oh well! It has been ten years last since I was here.

(Three hours later)
Upon my arrival I smiled at the scenery in front of me. Everything looked the same. Nothing seemed to be out of place. The exact same shops. The playground was on the exact same place. The swings looked a bit rusty but other than that, it was the exact same way.
How has nothing changed over the past ten years?
I took a left down Adley Street before passing Mr. Gregory's house. This was the creepiest looking house in town. It had no fences. Lots of dead leaves on the ground. The house always gave off an eerie vibe. It looked like Mr. Gregory was celebrating Halloween everyday by how spooky his house looked. Even after all these years, it still remained the same. Still had a dark aura to it.
Mr.Gregory was an old man who lived alone. I'm not even sure if he's still alive or not. He must be about seventy something now. Growing up I never once saw Mr.Gregory with any children. I didn't even know if he had a wife. Everyone in town used to avoid him. Everyone called him a crazy old man. Everyone said he ate creatures which is why everyone was scared to even go close to his house.
I can't possibly imagine how lonely he must be. Not having children. Not having any grandchildren. That's really sad.
I remember sneaking onto Mr. Gregory's property stealing apples from his tree. I'd do this everyday after school and everyday I'd get caught and Mr.Gregory would always threaten to call the police but he never did.
It quickly became a routine. I'd go to school. Finish school. Steal apples. Get caught. Run home screaming. It was really fun though. I miss those times.
Maybe I could take an apple or two again.
I drove a couple of minutes down a straight road before taking a U-turn. I pulled the car to the side of the road and pulled out my phone dialling my best friends number. It rang a couple of seconds before a loud booming voice answered.
"Baby!"
"Do you have to call me that?" I laughed through the phone.
"I'll call you whatever I want. Got it!" He playfully scolded. I've missed him so much. Always had a bright smile on his face. Always made me laugh. He was never a serious guy. Was quite charming.
"Fine call me whatever." He always did that. Occasionally he would call me 'baby' or 'honey' or anything that was sweet. I don't know why he did that but I never seemed to mind. It never really meant that much to me. Eversince I moved Jason and I have been on videocall with another for the past ten years. So knowing I was going to see him in front of me was making me quite excited.
"Good! It's not like you could ever stop me....- I could feel his smile through the phone ... - what's up? You arrived already?
"Yes I did. I'm actually sitting outside Wendy's. Want to join me? "
He scoffed at my question," As if you have to ask. I'll see you in five. Order me a milkshake while you're there please."
"Sure. See you soon" I hung up the phone and grabbed my black bag that was beside me on the passengers seat.
I sighed before unlocking my car door and stepping outside. Feeling once again the cold breeze and loving it. I locked my door and made my way to the diner.
I looked around and glanced at the people. Everyone seemed so happy. So peaceful. My glance fell on a couple walking hand in hand down the road. One could easily see they're were in love. The way he looked at her was like she was his world. Like he would give his life for hers in an instant.
I want that. I want someone to look at me like that. Someone to love me even with everything that was happening. I had that once but it was quickly stopped. I think he must've gotten too tired to handle me because couple years back I was constantly rushed into hospital because of my disease. He must've gotten bored with me.
I wasn't good enough for him. I was too sick for him.
I quickly tore my gaze away from the lovely couple and entered the diner. Upon entering I smelt the most mouthwatering scent. The smell was so overwhelming.
Freshly baked pies lit up the whole diner. The smell was very strong. It made me want to order all the pies they had just to eat them all. Even the diner looked the same. The only difference was the color. It used to be a creamy orange but it was now a bright pink. Looked quite homey. I loved it. Something I was all too familiar with.
I walked over to a two seated table and placed my bag ontop. I plopped myself onto the chair when my gaze landed in the small mirror besides me. My hair was a mess. It was all tangled up due to the wind. I ran my hand through it but winced when it came to a stop. I think I must've made it worst. My cheeks flared up with embarrassment hoping no one would notice how messy my hair looked. I think it had even more notts now.
I heard the laughter of a group of girls not too far from me. They look to be my age. They were all quite beautiful unlike me, with my messy hair.
I looked down at the plastic paper menu seeing that most of the food on it was what I was used to. A few desserts were added but I already knew what I was going to get.
Why was I even looking through the menu? I already feel myself getting a strawberry pie.
I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine. The same chill I felt when I got out of my car earlier. My body instinctively became tense as I let my eyes roam across the diner. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. The strange feeling was still there though. I averted my gaze to the other side of the diner when my eyes landed on the most handsome man I have ever seen.
His face was enough to make any girl worship him like a God. He looked so dangerous yet I felt so safe when looking at him. My breath stopped when my eyes met his. He was already looking at me. How can someone look so perfect? He looked like an angel and a devil at the same time.
My eyes traveled down to his lips. He looked like he gave the best kisses. Like he would plant soft gentle kisses on your face but also lightly choke you while he layed ontop of you, thrusting in and out.
My heart suddenly started beating fast making me break his gaze. I again started breathing slowly trying to not make a fool of myself. I can't past out now in front of him. What kind of first impression would that be?
First impressions last right?
Soon enough, the pounding in my heart began to subside and was replaced with a calming rhythm. I can't look at that handsome specimen again. He must think I was a freak for even staring at him tht long. I just can't bring myself to turn my head.
Okay maybe just one look. A quick peek. No harm in that right?
I turned my head to the side again to find his hard gaze. He was looking at me. I suddenly felt relaxed when gazing upon this handsome devil. He licked his lips as his gaze traveled up and down my body. I don't know how he could see but he looked intently. He looked like an animal eyeing down it's prey. Ready to devour.
I felt a good tingling sensation creep up between my thighs. How the hell was I getting turned on by just having him look at me? He gave a small smirk before averting his gaze to the people he was sitting with.
They were all big. Bulging muscles. They're all looked ripped. What kind of steroids were these guys on? It suited the mysterious looking angel. He looked mouthwatering with his bulging...
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard my name being called, "Rosie!" I turned around and smile bright at him. I got out of my seat to give him a hug. Jason pulled me closer to him before he took a deep breath inhaling my scent.
Strange.
"I missed you so much" I wrapped my arms around his shoulders. He was taller than me even with the shoes that I was wearing.
He spoke into my hair, "I missed you too baby"
His grip on me tightened before he slowly let go.
He stared down at me flashing his signiture smile, "So how have you been?"
I gave him a small smile and sighed, "I'm okay, I mean with everything that has happened." I feel horrible that I couldn't make it to my own brother's funeral. My flight was canceled due to heavy weather conditions. The funeral has been about a week ago. Cause of death was car accident. It was a hit and run yet my brother was the most safest driver unlike me. He never went over the speed limit. He drove like an old person. Slow and steady
Sadly now he won't truly get the chance to drive like an old person. Never even truly lived a full life. He was only twenty five.
I felt a pair of hands lift my face. Jason gave me a warm smile, "Everything is going to be alright Rosie. Whatever you need, I'm here for you. Night or day. You have my number. Just call me and I'll come rushing to your side." I couldn't help but let out a small giggle.
This damn guy.
I gestured us towards our table not wanting the whole mood to get gloomy. I didn't need Jason feeling broken as well. We both can't be broken. He needed to be strong. I wasn't strong. Couldn't even have a heart beating properly.
Jason nodded and sat down in the opposite seat from me. He leaned back in his seat running a hand through his hair. I crossed my leg over the other and placed my hands on top of the table, "So what can you tell me? What happened when I left?"
He smirked and shrugged, "What hasn't happened? Oh! Do you remember Christina?" I nooded my head. Christina was one of the prettiest girls in this town. I always felt insecure when I stood besides her. She was a hundred times prettier than I could ever be. I'm sure she is just as beautiful now.
Jason moved his face closer to mine. Our faces were only a couple breaths away before he spoke, "We slept together"
I raised an eyebrow at him. Curiosity taking over my being, "Really? How many times?
"How high can you count?" He winked at me. His response made me burst out with laughter. Typical Jason. He was always such a womanizer. Even when we were younger he would always hit on girls. Receiving kisses from them all. He never tried anything with me though. Even he must have thought I was ugly. That's sad.
The group of girls behind Jason laughed making him turn his sweet gentle-smile into a sly-Casanova one. He turned around to face them. Typical Jason.
I turned my gaze towards the mystery guy only to find him looking at Jason. He looked like his blood was boiling. He looked angry. His fists were balled on top of the table as he gave Jason death glares. If looks could kill.
Why was he looking at Jason like that?
As if sensing that I was looking at him, his eyes met mine for a second before he looked away. He was talking to the guys that sat with him.
I couldn't help but find him oddly familiar. Like I knew him from somewhere. Like I've met him before. I highly doubt that though. I'm sure I would've remembered someone as hot as him but I couldn't shake the feeling that I felt towards him. I must know him somehow.
He got up from his table along with the other three guys. He walked at the back of them. Every step he took made me more nervous because I knew he had to walk past me to leave the diner. As he was walking, stalking closer to me he didn't make eye contact. He didn't even glance once in my direction. When he past me I got his scent. It smelt like the forest. It reminded me of when I was younger how I would run in the forest. Then realization dawned on me.
I know him. I know who he is.
"Rhyder" I spoke out but he already left the diner.
"What?" I heard the confusing voice of Jason question.
"I'll be back" I spoke quickly before hopping off my seat and rushing out the diner to find him. I bumped into an old women quickly apologising before looking around trying to find him. My eyes immediately landed on a tall muscular guy. I dodged the people while trying to get to him. Pushing a few on the way. When I reached him I grabbed a hold of his forearm making him immediate turn around.
He was towering over me. He must have been taller than Jason as well. He definately was much more handsome in my opinion. He looked down at me not saying anything, just staring. He averted his gaze at my hand on his arm before his eyes flashed a golden color before they went back to black. My fingers felt like they were on fire from his touch. Soon enough I felt that good sensation between my thighs again. I liked it.
I took a quick breath before speaking, "It's me Rose. Rose Marie. We used to hangout together all the time. We used to run together in the woods when we were kids" Yet again he only stared. Not uttering a word. I can't blame him. It has been ten years since I last saw him.
Then I suddenly remembered a memory of him having a scar below his collorbone. He got that scar when he fell from a tree. I dared him to climb the tree but then he ended up hurting himself. I felt so guilty. He only laughed about it and kissed my cheek.
I know! I'll just tell him about the scar then he'll remember me. Then he'll know I'm not lying.
I don't know what came over me but I took my left hand and took a hold of his shirts collar before speaking, "You have a scar just below your collarbone" I smiled up at him. This was definately going to let him remember. I broke the eye contact and looked down at the scar but my smile dropped.
There was no scar. Wait what? My eyes widened with shock. This wasn't Rhyder. I just grabbed a complete stranger and lifted his shirt just to prove my point. What the hell is wrong with me!? I'm so stupid. How can I do that to a complete stranger?
This is sexual harrassment.
I opened my mouth to apologize, "I-I'm so s-sorry. I-I t-thought y-you were s-someone I-I... - I didn't even get a chance to finish my sentence before my hands roughly got ripped away from him.
A pair of rough hands took hold of my face. He had one hand behind my neck and the other roughly held onto my chin. It hurt. His grip was firm. An iron grip. He glared down at me complete anger in his eyes. His look was harsh it made my lower lip tremble with fear, "Don't every touch me again!... - He spit with venom before moving his face closer to mine...- Don't ever talk to me again!!" With that said, he let go of my face and walked away like nothing happened. The other three guys with him gave me sad looks as if apologising. As if they were feeling bad for what just happened.
I didnt even know a tear escaped and ran down my cheek.
How could that not have been Rhyder? The memories. The scent.
But he didn't have the scar.
Was this my welcoming home gift!

It was a hit and run yet my brother was the most safest driver unlike me. He never went over the speed limit. He drove like an old person. Slow and steady
