The Claiming ceremonies are nearly defunct. Wolf shifters are tired of being herded like cattle to the slaughter in the yearly ceremonies that pit wolf against wolf in the search for a reasonable chosen mate. When the chain finally breaks, it’s not just the unmated lonely that feel the need to break with tradition.
