Chapter 1

It’s already dark outside, when Jane gets into a taxi. One of those famous yellow New York taxis that creates small yellow lines seen from skyscrapers, in the streets of the big apple.. “At the TV studios on 26th, please.” She takes her phone back. She talks with her mother. Her mother tells her again that she should sleep more because she is worried that she is working so hard. Indeed, Jane does not sleep much in her last days, because she accumulates her family life as well as a professional life as head of an interior decoration company.

Jane is a 32-year-old woman. She has been married for five years to Serge, a man of her age. Jane is a woman from Paris. She’s a medium-sized woman. She has what’s called a singular charm. Even today, her husband turns around on her curves, which she knows how to dress with style and elegance. She has hazel-coloured eyes. She likes to show a frank smile to the people she meets. Together they have two children. She started her professional career only a year ago. She wanted to take care of her children in the first years of their lives. Now, she has her own company that is famous in New York. That is why tonight she is invited to a television show to present her company.

She’s late. She’s finally coming into the TV studio building. It arrives in a large entrance hall whose walls are covered with brown and black granite. Modern chandeliers suspended from the ceiling form large black birds. On the right, the receptionist asks her for her invitation card in order to access the elevators. She presents her invitation card, then she rushes into the elevator. Upstairs, a young woman welcomes her, she is Rachel, the makeup artist. They go to a small relaxation area where several corridors start. At this place a young woman talks with a man sitting. When Jane arrives, the young woman quickly ends the conversation and gets up. She is the host of the show. She is a young woman of 23 years. She is tall with beautiful short blond hair. Its eyes, huge and green, look like a deep sea. She wore a “liberty” dress, sky blue with small white flowers.

She tells him the box in which the makeup artist will take care of her. As they arrive at the door, it is closed. After a few minutes searching for the key, the young presenter offers to share her dressing room with her so that she can prepare before the start of the show. In order to access the lodge after a corridor that runs along the bay windows of the building. At the end, a large white door with the name of “Mary”.

The presenter left the room to sort out a few details before the show started. The box was a rather cramped room. It was on the 20th floor of a building. Three large bay windows let in the lights of the city and the moon that ascended into the sky. There was a large mirror on a whole section of wall. As well as 2 sideboards that contain beauty and makeup products. In front of this mirror, two heavy and comfortable leather chairs stand side by side.

While the makeup artist starts with a skin cleanse, the electricity cuts throughout the building. The makeup artist takes her phone to use as a flashlight. She announces to Jane “I will see what happens, in the meantime, I put a small mask on your eyes?“. Jane sees her reflection in the mirror in the light of the flashlight. The cold light of the phone highlights her dark circles. “Yes, good idea,” she said.

The makeup artist leaves the room leaving the door open. Jane remains alone in the dark. The only lights that pass through the lodge are the neon lights and the lights of the neighboring buildings. She enjoys this moment of calm. Under the small slices of cucumbers that rest on her eyes, she thinks. It is as if she is diving inside herself. She is reviewing her life goals. She reflects on her sweet moments in life, which she spends with family and friends.

When suddenly, she is drawn out of her torpor by a warm, burning feeling. Throughout her body, she feels this heat. But where it may come from, she asks herself a little lost in her thoughts. After the fire that consumed her body, it is now his heart. Yes, her heart, in all her body she hears it. It makes a deafening noise. She feels that the walls of her inner self are totally shaken.

Finally, she totally connects to her body. She feels her burning mouth. Her mind comes back to her. She understands that someone is kissing her. No, not someone. It’s not a normal person kissing her. She feels it. She knows it. It’s not someone. It is true love, the karmic relationship. The fire in the soul, it remains amazed by this feeling that overwhelms it. This kiss lasts a long minute, during which the passion has not diminished for a single second.

The mouth of the mysterious kisser moves away:

- “Mary?”

- “No, I’m Jane.”

- “Uh...I’m sorry...” he said in a hesitant voice. He also seems troubled.

He goes into darkness. Jane quickly takes off her mask so that she can see the face of the mysterious soul that set her heart on fire.

She has just the time to see the silhouette of this man in front of the bay window. He is tall. He has half-long hair, with a thin profile, a fleshy mouth and a drowsy profile nose.

It was only pure and elegant lines.

He closes the door, and like a bad trick of fate, the light lights up. Sitting on her chair, she realizes that she has just let the most burning kiss of her existence fly away. She gets up and opens the door, nobody. There’s nobody, the hallway is empty.

The makeup artist comes in and says,“Oh, the mask did you good. You have a much better complexion, although a little red on your cheeks.

- “Did you run into anyone? A man in the hallway on the way in?”

- “No, I didn’t see anyone come out of the hall.”

Jane sits in the chair. The makeup artist begins her work. Looking at the mirror, she thinks of this man, this figure. Had she dreamed? If the makeup artist had not seen it, had it only existed in her imagination? And this kiss, had it only existed? If he was real, would she ever see him?
